Something to spicy up your thoughts guys. From what I've heard (and please don't ask from where, you know I can't tell all), the box being tested is prime for hacking - if you are clever it should be possible to add storage, change settings, etc.

I will think of a prize for the first person to post in our forums a comprehensive guide on tweaking/configuring the new TelstraClear PVR.

Of course no breaking of DRM or changes that could impact on TelstraClear's network should be listed. I will post details later.

The symbol rate is a calculation based on a few things including the QAM rate. Because the QAM is staying the same it won't change.

If it is hackable that will work in tcl's favour
as I'm sure that would draw
more people in who would otherwise stick with there pvr or my sky. Only problem is by the time it comes out everyone will have given up waiting and will have go e to mysky!

the problem with it being hackable is that sky have tcl by the .... Due to tcl rebroadcasting sky content. So I don't expect it to be too hackable. You may be able to load your own content on your own box but I doubt it will have a BT client in it or anything like that. Plus be able to play DVD ISO images or similar.

DRM will be the name of the game, so that will limit most of the fun stuff you can do with your own pvr.

I'm giving them until 6-8 weeks before the FIFA World Cup to get the HD PVR released, or that's it - I'm going to mySky. I've had a HD telly for almost 3 years now - but still no broadcast HD content to watch on it.

That was 4 weeks ago (which was when the demo unit was supposed to be shown). GG TelstraClear. At least you're living up to my expectations (that you miss every single deadline).

But I found a Info channel, touched up a wee bit to reflect what should really be on their info screen.

I think along with the apostrophe usage, someone should also define what the term "mid" (as in "mid-February) I would generally define "mid" as the middle date plus or minus a couple of day. For the month of February that would equate to (say) 12th - 16th. However it is now the 19th and (assuming no announcements over a weekend) we would be roughly at the end of February.

I should never assume....

there was an update over the weekend. TelstraClear have pushed everything out by a month so the demo is now Mid-March.

At last some clarification on the definition of "mid" for you (well "maybe" ... or perhaps, "Yeah Right"). But now at least an actual date (or have there been several of those already?)
