sbiddle, thanks for the blog post confirming that its not just me..... I had initially thought it was location based, having recently moved to St. Heliers, but late last week noted it happening while at work and while visiting clients (Mt Wellington, Penrose, Ellerslie, Auckland CBD).  Also heard a couple of colleagues making similar complaints (all on iPhone 3GS handsets, but with various iOS update levels)

As for some mainstream media attention - @nzherald seemed to be tracking anything with #telecomXT and #fail a while back.  Suggest those of you that tweet, do so.

I've been offered an XT sim to try out, so going for it. Could well be bye bye Vodafone very soon.

*** Please call 0800-921-021 and log your issue *******

Hi all,

Have you all logged your jobs with vodafone? Its difficult for a service provider to resolve an issue, when we aren't told about it.

When you call VF techical support, you are suppose to be given a INC reference number when a ticket is escalated.

If you are experiencing issue please call the above number to the technical support line for mobile and ask them to log a job.

If you can please PM me with the INC number I will personally investigate these issue and attempted to get to the bottom of what is causing all these issue.

Thanks

Rhys

18 Mins on hold, bounced between 3 CSR's later and the case is logged.

I had to ask him to provide me with the case number "please hold the line sir.  I'm sorry I just closed the application so I will need to re-open it".. Doh!

So now waiting 3-5 working days to get a response.

Lets see how things go.

I get this issue too,  ramdonly, usually at the most annoying of times too of course.
When you want to quickly look up some info on your phone and of course the internet stalls or doesn't work.... but then works a few minutes later etc..

E-mailed Rhys a good detailed list of missed calls over the last week.  So will keep everyone updated with how things go from here.

Plus going to run my Nokia 6212 in 2G only this week and 3G only next week.. and see how I go ;)

I couldn't log a job because the CSR refused to do so until I tried my SIM in another device to prove it wasn't my phone.
Don't worry - those that need to know are fully aware of this now. Smile

Steve, I would still log a call, or just e-mail Rhys yourself (his first.last @ vodafone dot com as per his profile) and deal with it that way.

I told the CSR I had tried a 2Degress and XT sim in my Nokia phone and never missed a call or had data issues (which is true!) and wasn't going to accept them not logging a call since it's been widely published on the vodafone forums and on geekzone and I was doing my civic duty and helping Vodafone sort out their problems and I did accept that I wasn't expecting him to fix the problem on the phone.  He eventually saw it my way and logged the call. ;)

I am on Vodafone using an HTC desire. I get both data and sms problems. These problems have been happening everywhere I've used the phone - Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua and Tauranga.

Data - about every 20 minutes mobile data will stall for about 2 minutes. The little icon on the top will show that it is uploading, however it will not download. Nothing I have tried can speed up this process. On a related but separate issue, in the Auckland region I only get 'H' about half of the time, '3G' about 25% of the time, and 'G' about 25% of the time.

SMS - about twice a week I'll try send an sms and it'll fail. About 2 minutes later it'll send. I don't have to do anything.

I thought it was a problem with my phone. Interesting post, maybe it is vodafones fault. Perhaps I need to get a 2 degrees sim and test it out.

Youtube still does not work for me over 3G. It says 'Sorry, this video cannot be played. There was a problem while playing'. Works fine over wifi.

If you are using a HTC desire, you may have to reboot the handset and retest.

Let me know if you are still experiencing issues with Youtube.

Also in regards to the issue you are having with data etc.. Have you raised a ticket?

If not can you please message me with the details of your issue and I will follow up.

Thanks
