ramboky: Off peak (midnight), things are looking great:

Except for latency, which is still unusually high.

Peak speeds tonight were bad enough I had to go back to the office to work. Trying to check in code over the internet was a waste of time.

Three weeks to go....

....we hope

I'm pretty much the same... 5/10Mb from about 7pm til I stopped testing around 10pm, and then at midnight back to 100/10Mb. I'd have nothing to complain about if I wanted to do all my browsing when I'd normally be at work or sleeping... and to make things worse, we're waiting on another fibre circuit for more bandwidth at work so the internet isn't even fast there at the moment ;)

Bring on these magical changes... whenever they might occur

So did speeds improve in August in the end (even by a small percentage)?

Here are three sets of TrueNet stats for Wellington cable:

130/10 and 100/10Mbps connections combined (11 volunteers).
Hourly data transfer speeds averaged over 7 days.

Early August:

Now:

There's a definite trend here undecided  ...

[Referring to above graphs]

Let's hope that the speed improves by the end of September, 50 megabits per second at midnight!?! That was 100 megabits per second a week ago!

I've been informed (by a Vodafone rep via Facebook) that the work that'll affect my connection in Miramar, Wellington should be complete as of today... Here's hoping there's some noticeable change this evening

Interesting as it isn't on the list @ http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/Cable-network-upgrades-Wellington-Kapiti-amp-Christchurch/m-p/188300#U188300 (only Christchurch nodes today it seems)

I am told Wellington HFC will have some small outages tomorrow (Wednesday 9th September) throughout the day. Not sure your area will be completed today but it may be closer.

Johnr/Dylan - are either one of you able to advise when the Wainuiomata node is due for some attention?

Yeah, I mentioned that I hadn't seen Miramar on that list but that I had also seen other suburbs appear then disappear (such as Karori) so I wasn't sure if that was just works in progress/recent changes or a complete list of places that have had a successful change applied. The message I got included "I have received confirmation that the upgrades being done in Miramar should be all completed today. I was advised this should be resolved by 1pm today" which I'm hoping is correct.

@freitasm - I wasn't expecting it done today either... I'll be pleasantly surprised if there is a change tonight, but happy to wait a few more days if there is more work on the way :)

In fairness to Vodafone, I should point out that these file transfer stats refer to the average speeds of a small group of 11 volunteers - I am one of them. The published graphs show our speeds averaged over the previous 7 days.

We are not all getting the same speeds - a lot depends upon location.

My personal results are significantly better than the group average, while other volunteers are getting speeds even worse than those shown on the graph.

Here are today's results again, this time showing my own results (the blue line) as well as the group result (the black line).

But it's still a krapi cable connection undecided
