How do we remove a device from one account and link it to another (now that multiroom is available)?

NH3Engineer:

Sorry first time poster long time lurker for info...

Anyway,
Every morning I have to go through the ritual of unplugging the Ethernet cable and conducting a power cycle. The standby button and remote on/off will not work is this due to it trying to update early each morning? As after both times I have had to manually update the box reboots and does not show anything on screen no sound either. I have bravia sync on tv turned off (pia with regards to this great feature for my stereo and ps4 set up) I also only run the remote on ir due to conflict with my sony remotes as the will not go to the home screen on my tv with Bluetooth enabled on vtv. Do I have a dud box or what? When vtv works it is great and has been slowly getting better since I bought it 2 weeks ago but still it is doing my head in. I have never come across a more unreliable piece of equipment. Any help?

Firstly you shouldn't be pulling the ethernet cable to do a power reset. Leave it plugged in.

I recomend you turn all bravia sync functions on, on the TV unless there is a very good reason for not doing so.

Plug the VTV HDMI cable into a non audio return channel (ARC) HDMI port on the TV. Leave that port for your home theatre or sound bar. The ARC port is usually either HDMI port 1 or 2 and may possibly have an ARC label next to it. If not then the ARC port is probably HDMI port 1.

Pair the VTV remote with bluetooth and it will probably then best support the microphone for the search button in the future.
If you wish to control the TV with your VTV remote:
Set your TV to the best overall volume for all your devices. Set the VTV to Dolby, or if you have a hearing aid device attached to the TV, to Stereo in settings, more settings, audio. Set the volume of the VTV so it is reasonable for the setting of your TV volume. Set up the VTV remote to control your Sony Bravia TV with the procedure described earlier in this thread.

Ensure that your VTV has the latest firmware (see earlier in this thread for version).

You say " I also only run the remote on ir due to conflict with my sony remotes as the will not go to the home screen on my tv with Bluetooth enabled on vtv." This should not be the case if you have set up the remote correctly if I understand what you are saying. If not could you explain further please?
The VTV remote should not affect your other remotes.

Hi, @NH3Engineer, if you’re still having issues after trying everything @IvanPiacun has suggested then we will try to help you... it’s very unlikely that it’s dud box hardware, however we have seen cases where the specific combination of other devices, including the ISP/router/AV gear etc hasn’t been encountered before and isn’t handled well by the VTV box. If you message me your account details we can trouble shoot and attempt to resolve. We will also make sure we publish here the resolution for the benefit of others.

Tonight my unit displayed the usual 'unable to connect to the Internet' message, but this time it still didn't connect even after leaving it for several minutes. The process to get it working involved:

  • Turn off at the wall, and back on again.
  • Go into settings and select my Wifi network.
  • Enter my Wifi password.
  • Get an 'unable to connect message'.
  • Wait a minute, and then it connects.

I can't go through this sort of thing every time I want to watch TV, so I've decided to give it another couple of weeks and if the reliability issues are not resolved then I will have to get rid of it.

I am thinking that these units are not fit for purpose

It seems VF are either incompetent or they have cynically released this unfinished product so as to use their customers as beta testers.

There’s really no excuse for a so-called ‘senior’ telco releasing a product with this number of issues. Mind you, they did it with the Gen 1 - which has still not been fixed - so we should not be surprised. It almost seems VF have given up on the Gen 1. Maybe the Gen 2 will never be perfected.

Hi @alasta, this is not typical for the vast majority of users who turn it on and it starts streaming instantly.  Please let us trouble shoot this to resolve by sending me your account details directly.

@sansom

My unit seems to still be running software version 3.1.3414.02cvtp(nz) but is saying "no new updates are available".

How do I access 5.1.5711.06jfa(NZ) ? My understanding was that the software would update automatically or via update in the menu?

I have powered off and on and that hasn't done anything.

I think you have a Gen 1, the new software for Gen 1 isn't expected until late January (Although there may be beta testing opportunities)

No, I have Gen 2. I’ve only had the unit for about a month post the recent relaunch.

This is the same ritual I go through every morning but instead of having to enter wifi details I have to unplug power and plug it back in with the Ethernet cable disconnected until the box starts up with the red vf logo then I plug Ethernet cable in and it connects to the internet. It WILL NOT shut down with the remote the white light flashes once and does nothing hence the power cycle mentioned above.

Same ritual as well. I have done it so often I am developing muscle memory for the task.

Just a question - for those of you using ethernet do you have your router set to use "green" ethernet?

I have experienced this issue with my connections tested as follows.

1.Wired Ethernet to Orcon router

2. Wifi activated on Orcon router and VFTV connected thus with my MESH router turned off

3. Wired Ethernet to my Google Wifi router

4.Wifi connected to my Google router (Orcon Wifi deactivated.

Interestingly this morning I tested it before heading out and the VFTV turned on by pressing the power button on the remote and connected OK with my LG TV.
