The irony is, I have a $500 voucher to use at Vodafone. I bought a imported handset outright instead by choice after 3 dud phones from Vodafone and let them keep the $500. Not worth it.

can you sell the voucher on trademe?

Otherwise go and get a whole lot of recharge vouchers with it? Or several cheap phones that cant be assed up with broken old vodafone live firmware like the nokia 1110?

paradoxsm: VodafoneLIVE phones suck.... Period. I'm sorry you are using a Bellsouth-SIM in a Motorola 3200

Hey don't knock the 3200 - it's a damn site more robust that many phones today! I'm sure you would have played with one at one time or another! Smile

I'm guessing it's just a voucher from hotupgrades, in which case it's only valid for a selected range of phones that are all overpriced models. I used mine last week to buy a phone for a mate, it's unlikely I'll ever purchase a Vodafone branded phone again due to the crippled firmware Vodafone insist on placing in their phones these days.

freitasm: If any Vodafone employee is around they can comment on this, but rumours are that "IBM" is almost a forbidden word inside the Vodafone New Zealand offices...

Hmmm. the cheaper 1110 idea sounds good, buy 5 and sell 4. i'd probably get $80 each on TM.

By the way, I have that Sony-ericsson debranding thing of muppets, I really would like to put that to work but really have no idea... it's called "Cruiser" of all bad names! I will happily debrand everyones SonyEricsson phones free-of=charge but need some leads for  using it.

Also does anyone know of any hacks or decent boxes to use with Nokia phones? After my atrocious dealings with Nokia recently, and the absolute arrogance of the monkeys that design these "lockdowns" phones,  I owe the world a favour to start debranding and hacking the realisim back into some of the recent phones.

I have extraced the Symbian firmware and Userfiles (Z:\ drive) of the n95, I might start checking them out... It seems to be strangely similar to the old Psion I had years ago which I did a lot with. (I still have a devkit for that somwhere too!!!)...

Sorry, Confusing post on my part, ...

I have a $500 "anything" voucher.

I got a "hot upgrade" on both connections but ported one to Telecom a couple of days later and they would not honour it anymore (funny that)

The other connection changed to a "base plan" the same day. again I cannot use it as "they are unelegible for special offers or handset discounts"

and... the phones offered are not even worth getting just to video me tossing them in the tide.

I just tried paying for parking here in Wellington via SMS to receive back a message saying the service is unavailable until the 28 May...

Lucky the machines also accept credit card because I had no coins on me.

Yep, I tried to use HOTLINK this afternoon to top up my wife's prepaid Voda mobile.  Got back a message about "Technical Difficulties, Please try again", needless to say it didn't work then either so phoned up and was told that:

"All our computers are down until May 28.  The only way to top up is to buy a card at your local dairy".

I thought that only On Account customers were affected but obviously not.  This is unbelievable!!! Yell Yell Yell Yell

It seems there are more and more services every day that Vodafone failed to mention would be unavailable for the 10 day cutover period. I wonder why they thought it wasn't important to mention both them?

I've used TXT parking quite a few times recently. If you're wanting to park in the Wgtn CBD trying to find $8 of loose change in my car to feed the meter can sometimes be a mission so the TXT service makes life so much easier even if it does have the 50c surcharge.

Anybody know of Prepay feeder will be resumed again once the change is complete? It got canned before Prepay moved to the new billing platform last year.

With all the problems that people seem to be having, I wonder how the VF shops with live handsets (e.g. Lambton Quay) are handling demonstrating how wonderful the network and its features are to potential customers.

"when you select this, it takes you to this feature...  well, it would usually"
