The issue is being investigated and the right people know about this.

I'm on a supported plan and started roaming last Thursday. It's possibly related to the type of roaming plan the account is using and may not be working correctly if not on traveller. Data and SMS is being correctly accounted for. It's voice that has the issue.

If it is related to traveller it's probably going to be affecting a number of people since the standard plan offers better value than traveller to most destinations.

sbiddle: Looks like this isn't being billed correctly. I'm in the US at present and have a bill that's much higher than it should be! Some calls that should be zero rated aren't and incoming calls or calls within the US are not being deducted from my included minutes. All incoming calls are also being charged at $1 per minute.

Anybody else roaming at present want to check there bill?

Ahahahahaha I told you! Looks like my $5 is safe

Would this mean if on Vodafone Red Essentials with unlimited calling and text, would the $5 per day option allow unlimited calling and text abroad? (As I don't have a bundle of minutes being a unlimited plan).

Just a little update to the issue I posted above.

There was a fault found affecting the billing of this but only to Hawaii (where I was). A fix for this is currently being worked on by Vodafone.

Well my.experience is similar. I am in Australia roaming on a Red business essentials plan with tons of data and minutes. I tried to activate the $5 roaming but it would not let me. I've called customer support who said my plan was a legacy one and not eligible, even though the plan has only been active 6 months. Vodafone must retire plans very quickly.

Since I really needed data I've bought 250 megabytes for $30 and also contacted my account manager. She said she would look into it but during the day I walked into Dick Smith store and saw $2 Optus Sims that give you 500mb/day, unlimited Oz calls and texts for $2/day. That seemed like a better deal than $5/day since I am on vacation and work calls can go to VM while my family knows to use Internet based messaging. Including the minimum top up of $10 this will cost me $12 for the 4 days I'm her which is good value.

As an aside I'm getting good 4G coverage on my Nexus 5 which isn't surprising given it was purchased here.

Telecom's roaming is very different to Vodafone.

Vodafone have their own interconnects with a large number of countries whereas Telecom only have these to very few. Their roaming relies heavily on their dual IMSI SIM cards which allow roaming piggybacking on top of o2 UK's roaming agreements. It may simply not be cost effective for Telecom to be able to offer what Vodafone are now offering.

But not on all business plans it seems based on my experience.
