kenkeniff: So now looks like having the phone line removed from my account had the unintended (unmentioned) side-effect of causing me to now be billed $50+/mth for Vodafone TV which was supposed to be free.

Sounds like you're on the "Free SKY for 6 months" offer. That requires you to have home phone, unlimited broadband and SKY with Vodafone, on a 24 month term. There's more info about that deal on our site here http://www.vodafone.co.nz/freesky/
