The main reason they use less than 1gb is because most peoples data cap is less than 1gb and they are afraid to use more

I must admit...my average monthly use has reduced from the 2.5-3GB a month that I used to use to a more miserly 1.25GB-1.75GB now, due to my reduced data cap.

Stats are easy to use in any way you want to get a point across...and wile I don't dispute the data, I'd love to see WAY more flexibility offered...other carriers can do it; why not VF?

It was free for everyone who signed up to Red Share Tablet prior to 01/10, so you should be good to go. Please let us know if that's not the case, we can look into it for you. :)

The team reckon the increased data allowance is noted as being for all 'new and re-signing customers', although a re-sign seems a little odd for open term plans. I would suggest calling 777 and having a word with the re-sign team to make sure you'll be switched to the new $29 plan (You certainly won't need to go into a contract term or anything silly).

Is there any danger of the Business plans becoming similar? I like my local number on my phone and don't really want to give it up....

Alternatively any chance of the local number being available on consumer plans?

Currently out of contract but still paying the premium of a subsidised phone, so keen to change.

Apparently as of the first of October the pricing has changed to $10/month for a Red+ Tablet Share SIM - it was previously free, and remains free for 24 month Red+ plans (This was news to me too).

As you clearly contacted us about this before the pricing was changed, we will certainly honour it for you. Sounds like there was some miscommunication with the retention team, which I'm chasing up right now. Sorry for the mix-up.

As with all things, they get as much as they pay for. If they have <1Gb, that is their choice.

I agree that it seems very odd. But I don't mind "re-signing" for the same plan. :-)

And in the latest update to this ongoing attempt to move to the current version of the plan...
Having wandered in to the Lambton Quay store it turns out that there isn't any way for them to actually move me from the previous $29 open term plan to the current one.
They also were confused as to why all the other plans automatically updated the people on them to the new limits but this one did not.
Now awaiting some sort of response from an email sent by the staff member to get this looked at. Was given a heads up that she couldn't guarantee that it'd be done within one billing period.
Now, I have 6 days left in this billing period.
I first enquired about this last billing period and was advised to wait for the roll over and see if it updated (a reasonable request) which it didn't. So I shall be somewhat disappointed if I have to wait yet another month for this to get sorted. On the open term plans I am effectively "re-signing" each month so if nothing else, this should automatically update on a new billing month which I think would be fair and reasonable.
If nothing else, why is it so seemingly hard to get the plan updated?

Offer solutions that suit the data-hungry consumers who use smart phones on high-speed connections: I don't need to be offered a plan that gives me 500min of talk time or a billion texts...I need DATA...at a reasonable cost. I don't want to have to pay $100+ for 2.5GB of data, simply because it comes with unlimited talking and txts...

The ideal plan for me would have been the grandfathered plan I was on - 3GB, 60 min, 2500 txt, 1000 pxt for $40.00
I'd happily pay $50 for it.

But I wasn't able to access daily roaming or 4G on this plan, so was forced to move off it when travelling to Australia a couple of months ago. I have regretted this ever since...which is why I am now looking to move to another provider.

I don't need more talk time, I don't want to pay another $20 for more data, I want what I need...not what VF thinks the "average customer" wants...and yes...having talked to other providers, I CAN get more or less what I want without jumping through hoops.

Most of those SMS could easily be switched to other messaging apps so there's only around <20 that are to people that have older phones.

Which providers offer a on account decent data plan with some kind of 'pay for what you use' for other things like voice/sms? Telecom and 2degrees both seemed to bundle useless stuff together with their decent data plans last time I did my research. :(

If you talk to the other two providers, they'll work with you to give you as close to what you want as they can get...that's been my experience.

Personally I switched to 2D for there rollover and shared data features.

Now my wife and I can 'cross share' our minutes and texts... She uses most of my minutes, and I use most of her data 😀
