coffeebaron: All seems to have gone quiet on this one. Are any trials underway yet? Or is it all on hold pending Telecom sorting out some issues etc?

Cheers

We currently have some trial customers on this, just working through provisioning with Telecom so things go as smooth as possible :)

Definitely on the way though!

Cheers,

Wendy

maverick: Hate to keep all our valued supporters in suspense but just a small update on the Naked Bitstream offerings since there is a lot of guessing going on at present Wink

We are presently finalising the pricing of the convergent Naked Bitstream bundles that we will be releasing in October and users can expect to see bundled VoiP & DSL packages from WxC starting from $69.95 (incl GST)

Bundles will include the full VFX suite of services as well as our well-loved (and best performing) ISP services etc.

Pricing and launch date will be confirmed on our web site shortly so don’t get locked into any 1 year contracts with the other blokes as you will miss out.

So, it there some sort of update as to the estimated time when this would be released to the public?

It's just that I'm moving, and I do hope to keep my present home phone number.  (In mid Dec)

You can still join VFX, and port your number anyway.  Telecom will issue you with a new number, and calls to your old one will go to VFX.  From there you can forward them to your new Telecom number at no charge, if you like!  If you use WorldxChange for your ADSL broadband, they don't currently charge any extra monthly bill for VoIP. Smile YOu could always move to somewhere that has real broadband (ie - an alternative to Telecom ADSL) Wink

Cool! Thanks for the info!  I am a Xnet customer, so I guess it won't hurt!

If Jessey is moving in mid December wouldnt it be better to get naked bitstream at the new address and have the VFX service there as well as having old number ported to it and not worry about having a new telecom number?

I'd recommend getting the VFX account sooner, rather than later ... one less thing to worry about while moving.  I read in another topic here somewhere that if you port your number, without cancelling your phone line, then they will issue you a new number with the existing line.  Jessey needs to check it all out, but I think there will only be the $20 porting fee out of all of this.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

It'll be interesting to see what the uptake is with naked bitstream/vfx will be. These are some pretty exciting times! Smile

Are there any plans to on sell TCL cable broadband like other ISPs such as Xtreme Networks?

Goodmorning damgl0bal if you look earlier in this thread it will give you an indication as to how a few of us feel about naked bitstream and VFX. Maverick from Xnet suggested that they might have a few early adopters of the VFX service go on the trial programme and you should have seen everyone jump at the chance. So yes there are a few of us that are very keen to get it. What I would like to know is next month when telecom say they are going to let current broadband customers change over to naked bitstream (thats of course if they dont change their minds again watch this space) is there are about 5000 VFX customers in NZ. I dont know how many there are on slingshots i-talk and then you got Orcon looking at going into the voip market if just those with a voip service said right we want naked bitstream how long will it take telecom to change all those customers over to naked bitstream. I would say there will be a few busy people at telecom leading up to Christmas if you take Matt Crockets famous statement earlier this year that it is not easy to unpick a pots service and leave naked bitstream on a line.
