Hi there

After a couple of years of reading topics on Geekzone this topic has finally forced my hand to join and comment.

Our family have had the new Vodafone TV for around 6 weeks and we love it, especially my two boys.

- faster response, far better picture quality (especially on Netflix), better user interface, inclusion of a number of apps, extra free movies, way better app than Sky Go.

The only downside is that occasionally surfing on Youtube the decoder locks up, but this is minor as we don't really watch Youtube on the TV. And you cant see the fastforward so have to take a guess, but this is now just a game for us to see who can get closest to the start of the programme.

Sure, cant record on some channels, but these are mostly freeview so we could do that on the HDD if needed, but nah. However with the 3Now and TVNZ apps that's all we need.

It might become a problem when stuff we have recorded gets removed in a year (I think I saw that somewhere) but doesn't worry me. Our last Sky Box was full of stuff 2,3, 4 years old that we never watched so getting rid of it after a year doesn't worry me.

Still a few channels missing, but they'll turn up and they're not that important to me. The wife complained because pay per view movies were not there, but when I pointed out we had only paid/watched one movie in the last 6 months........

And just in case, I am a Vodafone employee. However my reply here is as a consumer not an employee. I still have to pay for this service so if I wasn't happy Id be sending it back, just like anyone else.

Cheers

Bouquet for Vodafone.

We were unhappy with the new Vodafone TV. I emailed them and they came over and reinstated our old service.

So thanks Vodafone.......they probably didn't have to do this for us.

Same for bouquet for Vodafone.

They ended up re instating my old T-box service after a bit of a mission.

The only problem now is all the grief I am getting re losing all the really important copied programs like Coro and Shortland St.

Can someone with Vodafone TV confirm more channels are HD compared to Sky satellite? Wanting to know if channels like HGTV, Disney JNR which are SD on Sky satellite are HD on Vodafone TV?

They are as provided by SKY.  Sky can't convert any more channels on the satellite service over to HD until all the old sd decoders are disabled. Then they can fire up more t.p using DVB-S2 with HD content. Shutdown of the old decoders was supposed to be this month.

Hmmm, this thread has been silent since December. That's unexpected.... has this new box settled down now and working well?

Maybey it hasn't taken off, so early adopters are still the ones using them (or returned them).

I dont know anyone in my circles that talks about these or even thinking about one of these.

Advertising has gone quiet too... perhaps means VF marketers and management listened to the tech guys and conceded there are some issues.

:-)

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

We had Vodafone try and sign us up to Vodafone TV last week but I haven't yet taken the bait.

Can anyone who has the new Vodafone TV answer the following:

1. If you get sports or movies, does it include pop up channels (eg with the recent Olympics did it include all the Olympic channels)?

2. How have you found the reliability with the service?

Keen on update as well. But my question would be can you still use SkyGo?

Sky Go wouldn't work for me.
I used the Vodafone TV app on Android.
That had good features but limited you a bit.

1. Yes, all pop up channels come with the sky service through the Vodafone TV.

2. I’m on a 1000/500 connection and have the Vodafone TV connected via gigabit Ethernet and have had no problems. We initially used the wifi extenders and they caused all sorts of grief. We wouldn’t be going back to Sky any time soon. The big thing we’ve enjoyed is no rain fade.

It is what I'm on with it. We originally had the 200/20 plan, but I rang Vodafone and it was done. (there were a few hiccups along the way with provisioning, but thanks to some help from some great people at the call centre we have it).

How are you dealing with fast forward and rewind?  I presume all it has is skip?
