It was interesting to see a small snippet in the Dom Post yesterday from Vodafone saying that "most customers didn't have a problem with Pit Stop and were understanding of the situation".. Obviously Vodafone never bothered to ask their CSR's - I hear they've been copping a huge volumes of flack since they are unable to provide customers with any usage information at all. With over a month to go still I can see this issue exploding into the media because I doubt Vodafone will be able to contain the discontent that is starting to occur.

Not sure if it is realted or not but since the 'Pit Stop' started I have been having major delays or complete losses of text messages. Everyone I asked at work who was on a plan said they were having the same problem, but the prepayers seemed to be fine (As is my flatmate who is on VF Prepay).

Well its now the 29th - is this mess finally fixed? can I now get roaming, will any minor changes I need made be fixed and all that other stuff? or are things at Voda still broken???

I do. In fact I and my team were instrumental in the implementation of this change. I do find the conjecture in this thread fascinating.

I can authoritatively say that we are committed to a long term relationship with IBM and are happy with this arrangement.

Of course there will be those that hold (and even express) personal views to the contrary but they don't necessarily reflect the organisation's views.

Edit: No I can not provide specifics about said change, I trust you'll understand.

I am extremely stressed about this because I am usually very close to going over my 2MB Vodem allowance. I'm already had massive problems with this in the past (including a couple of bills $100 over what was expected) and so am very wary about watching my limit... but now I have NO WAY of checking what my download usage has been (FOR ONE AND HALF MONTHS!) and I fear the bill I'll get at the end of all this.

Vodafone's attitude towards Vodem customers in general is pretty bad, and on this point appalling. The guy I spoke to basicaly admitted that it was their fault the system was down and that I could get screwed with bills for hundreds of dollars, but said that I would have to pay them no matter what. To be fair, when got stuck with a huge bill a few months back (and complained about it here!) a couple of VF guys got in touch with me, sorted it out and gave me a good-faith credit, so it's not all bad, but I am extremely frustrated and nervous about the current situation.

How are other Vodem users handling this? I must say that I hope this upgrade will provide better service to users of Vodem and Vodafone's other 3G Broadband devices. I cannot believe that there has been no way of stopping my internet access after the initial 2MB... this is a gold mine for VF but very annoying for those who get stuck with the bill... especially when their billing system is unreliable, even when it is available.

If there was another wireless device that was compatible on my laptop and feasible I would switch in an instant but unfortunately VF has the monopoly at the moment and I am stuck.

Vodafone has the monopoly on HSDPA, but Telecom CDMA EVDO works as well on laptops - I use it.

There is a USB option offered (for laptops that don't accept the 580 or the 595) by Telecom - the Aircard 595U

But the problem again is that this only offers 2GB per month. I would ideally prefer a 5GB+ option. And I'm stuck with a 24 month VF contract :(

I can empathise with you on this point. My usage usually averages around 1.5Gb so if I take it easy this month there's very little chance of me exceeding the 2Gb limit. Still, I usually regularly check my usage online for extra piece of mind and not being able to do that does make me a bit nervous.

I'm surprised that they couldn't set up some sort of alternative traffic monitoring tool for 3G Broadband users to access while the regular MYA facility is down.
