Does the collective wisdom happen to know the username and password for the Cisco modem? I imagine beyond the lock and key are more detailed logs and *wishful thinking* a way to power cycle the modem without crawling in behind the TV?

Lukeroge:

I've also noticed my modem has changed from 2 upstream channels to 3.

I wonder why my power levels are significantly different to yours?

Tonight I seem to have joined the group of people with high speed tests but still unusable internet. Weird.

It seems we have broken the internet - no internet in Kapiti at the moment - Vodafone Tech Support says it is a system wide outage...

And my connection has been down for a couple of hours now and no amount of power cycle brings it back.

Was down for me as well (has just come back up) - this was posted 8 hours ago.

by Staff VF_Operations Staff on 8h ago Message 3 of 3 As part of our cable network upgrades our engineers need to make some changes to our network. The following areas of Wellington may experience a 15 minute interruption to cable broadband services at approximately 3am, 23 September.   Avalon, Berhampore, Burma, Kapiti, Karori, Miramar, Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt.  Thank you for your patience while this work is completed.

And it's back. The 15 minute interruption turned out to be more like four hours.

Johnsonville is not in the list but was affected.

Some users may experience a 15 minute outage... just pray you're one of those users and not one of the hours of downtime users ;)

It's all about the upstream attenuation. If the attenuation between the modem and the controller's upstream port is lower, by dint of, for example, the final coax run being shorter, then the modem simply doesn't need to shout as hard, for the controller to get the input level that it wants.

Is it possible that Burma is some of Johnsonville at all? The only instance of Burma I know of in NZ is Burma Road and my Google-fu can't find any other mention about from Myanmar - has Vodafone started servicing other countries now? :)

This was my assumption.
