Clarification please for confused friend (I don't have the device to look at 🙃) :

VodaTV box has CatchUp … what is that?

Does it have TVNZOnDemand and ThreeNow?

What is the '3 days' limitation refer to?

Tks.

I suggest you look at the Vodafone TV page: https://www.vodafone.co.nz/tv

Catchup is 3 day replay on 90% of programs plus catchup in the OnDemand Apps. Yes. 3 Day Limitation is on replay of 90% of programs, to view, for which you do not need to record them.

Senecio:

At that price I might pick up a second box. For $99 this box is absolute steal.

Yup, brought one on the spot, as soon as I saw that post - thanks GZ !!

OK, so that answers that it has Ondemand and ThreeNow, so with those available one can watch quite old episodes of a series.

So, why bother with the 3-day thing?  Does that mean that even with the TVNZ and Three apps one cannot stream old episodes past 3 days?

It means you can watch more than on demand if it has been shown in the last 3 days, on any of the freeview channels, or sky channels which you have access to by subscription or gifting from Sky/Vodafone, and it is within the 90% for which rights exist for cloud replay.

Also the three day catch up is broadcast quality where TVNZ on demand etc isn’t.
Keep DD and everything that broadcast has, can also fast forward adds where can’t on demand.

100% TVNZ channels three day catch up, media works channels a lot isn’t available with the catch up

DD = Dolby Digital Sound. Just makes a difference if using a DD receiver.

For some reason NZ broadcasters won’t stream DD sound with on demand services, Neon, Light Box etc.

I assume that if we cloud record stuff on Sky during the freebee promotion after it ends those shows will no longer by in our cloud recordings?

We have a Netgear Orbi system (RBK50) and we have been having ongoing problems since purchasing the Vodafone TV - unfortunately connecting it via ethernet is not an option as it will result in undesirable placement of the Orbi system.

The things that I have noticed/experienced:

1) VTV appears to show both the router and satellite SSIDs separately despite having the same name and working as a "mesh". This does not occur on any phones/other devices.

2) VTV struggles connecting to the WiFi network despite mobile phones in the exact same location displaying good 5Ghz signal (-50dBm). Eventually it will connect after entering my credentials about 10 times (and rescanning for networks, etc etc) and work for a few days. Unfortunately, it sometimes then disconnects and will refuse to reconnect until I do a hard reset and/or set it up from scratch again. I am not sure where the problem lies as when I log into Orbi's admin panel, I can see that the VTV has been issued a LAN IP successfully. I have a feeling it is not the signal strength causing problems.

The Orbi is set to a fixed 5Ghz channel (36) and unfortunately there is no option to separate out the SSIDs for the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands via the GUI, so I can't test whether that makes a difference.

Would love to troubleshoot further/be a guinea pig :)

Hi @liquidcore,

More than happy to make contact tomorrow (Mon) to troubleshoot.  In the meantime, try a different fixed 5GHz channel.... something a bit higher in the range.

Just discovered channel 38 unlocked. Sky movies Christmas pop up.

I know Sky has unlocked it on Sky Box’s until 24th. Hope not an error.

Picture looks better then through a Sky Decoder.
