Sideface: Are you on WKH?

I'm in Island Bay and my speed test is exactly the same as yours.

Yes we are. It *seemed* like things picked back up a few weeks ago, but now speeds have gone down the toilet again.

Snap!
Same timescale for us (except that our upstream speeds have been better).

That makes three of us. Some temporary improvement but I'm definitely having issues again. Even when it is working it's really inconsistent. Speed tests seem to run slow, then burst to close to normal and trail off again. Latency is a joke. Prior to the switch I was getting 140-160ms pings to a US based server, now they vary from 250ms on a good day to over 1000ms on a bad day. Even local pings have doubled.

Can anyone from VF comment on the latency and ongoing issues for those of us who have been switched over?

Did your temporary improvement start on 11 September? (the date of the WKH cut-over)

Yeah I think so, but I don't have exact dates. However, we were getting nearly 50mbps 10 or so days ago on the 16th when I contacted Dylan asking him to confirm our node. Since then things have still been terrible at peak times [just as the TrueNet graphs depict].

I contacted Dylan because I'd forgotten which plan we were on and assumed we should have been getting 100mbps. D'oh! Still, good to know our node and that we'd been cut over to the newer hardware.

freitasm: Very strange. Not 130 Mbps like yesterday but not bad either. On the other hand the upload which has been not affected during this whole time is now way below the 10 Mbps

After my node was switched upload speeds were shocking until I rebooted my modem, they'd been rock solid prior. May have been a coincidence, but worth a try.

I figured that too, so I bounced my cable modem just now still the same horrible speeds.

I think I got like 3 days of decent speeds after it looks like they upgraded the node now its worse than it was before. My connection is so unstable during peak my chromecasts keep saying they dont think they are connected to the internet

Karori, 100 plan. All time record 2! I challenge anyone to beat that.

A month ago, 2 Mbps was the average speed for Wellington cable at 9pm:

And it's utterly useless again tonight in Island Bay. So much for my upgraded node.

Davos: Does the Vodafone Emperor have no clothes? 5 days.

Latency is terrible again this morning, though speeds are acceptable. If my internet connection isn't usable during peak hours at the end of the month I'm going to be demanding a discount large enough to pay for an ADSL connection as backup. If they refuse, they'll be losing me as a customer until they sort this mess out. If there was fiber in my area I would have bailed already. My patience is wearing thin.

Vodafone will not provide an xDSL connection to an address where you have cable, even if you are prepared to pay for it.

Vote with your wallet. If you can get VDSL, fibre or good ADSL2, get it. Mine's fixed but I'm going to the first person on my street to sign up for fibre when it's in. Vodafone as a company are the absolute worst. The quality of the service degraded 10x worse than it should've been allowed to, and it went on for 10x longer than it should've.

In Island Bay there is no fibre option until late 2019 at the earliest.
At my address ADSL is slow and VDSL is no faster (despite master filter etc).

So I'm Waiting for Godot ...

I know, I'll be asking for a discount so I can arrange a connection with another provider.

International latency seems to be worse for me 24/7, by a significant margin and I'm relative sure it started when my node was switched over. Are you seeing the same thing?

No fiber, otherwise I would be gone already. Vodafone certainly haven't earned any loyalty from me but it's my best option, when it actually works.

I'm in the same boat, it's this or 11mbps ADSL2, fibre due sometime between now and Jul 2016 though. Rest assured that when the node is upgraded (as mine is) the experience is actually pretty damn good though. Hopefully it's all complete by end of Sept.

Our node (WKH) has been upgraded - with temporary improvement, already slipping away ...
That's why we're so unhappy undecided
