Got caught out by the per-programme features today. My wife was watching a show with no catchup or record icons, and had paused it for a bit earlier so she was a few minutes behind the broadcast. When there were a few minutes of the show still to watch ... it suddenly stopped and started the next show on that channel. No way to get back to it. That was annoying.

After getting our second box today (both were under $100 on special, one from PBT one from NL, that was lucky) and registering to same website account as first unit, it now wants $25 per month for Sky multiroom if we were to purchase any Sky packages. Ouch! We might get Sky Starter when the current free period ends in late January but we would only want it on one box in the house. Looks like I may need to register the two boxes to separate email addresses to be able to do that, but I did not find a way to de-register one of them. Nothing about it on the website, and a factory settings reset on the box did not work.

Currently you cannot deregister a stb... but I can do this for you if you PM me your registered email address and the serial number of the unit you wish to have removed.

i understand that in the future the deregister option will become available.

Cheers,

Grant

Can anyone confirm that these boxes include voucher codes you can activate for 3 months of Neon, and 4 months of Lightbox subscription ?

Yes I can confirm thàt, but the voucher codes must be registered at the appropriate Lightbox or Neon site on an account by 31 December 2019.

I see that Noel Leeming now have the VTV Gen 2 on special at $99.99 following PB Tech doing the same. Is this service already on clearance? This level of price drop does make me nervous given the poor history of these services in NZ

The service is not on Clearance.  Its Xmas. :)

That is rather annoying considering I paid $179 exactly a month ago from NL and it has only started performing at a somewhat satisfactory level this week. Oh well at least this topic is increasing its performance

@geekguy

Only if it has a sticker on the outside of the box saying it has the vouchers inside.  If there is no sticker, then there are no vouchers.  They only had a limited number of packs with the offer and once they were gone there are no more.

Thanks for that. I bought one online today and went to collect it at a certain Noel Leeming not long after.

The staff member took a while and came back with a box with no plastic wrapper and had been opened.

She said it was left on a table and then checked to make sure everything was in there and handed it over to me.

Looks (to me) now like staff have/are/maybe taking vouchers out of boxes.

I hope you didn’t accept/buy it. Quite possibly it was returned by a disgruntled owner and was therefore a used unit. If that’s the case, it may have issues and maybe the first owner has the vouchers. No matter what your purchase method is, you’re entitled to receive factory-sealed packaging. Shame on NL for trying to palm you off with an open-box unit.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Thank you for the reply, it is very good to know I can do that if needed.

I will keep them on a single account for now, until we have decided whether we will have Sky at all in 2020 (not much tempting sport there for me, but rest of family like some of the Starter package channels) and whether the multiroom cost is worthwhile. We will sort that out after the current promotion providing free selected channels ends in late January.

Mine was bought at Noel Leemings Manukau City Supa Centre, another person got the vouchers from the same deal but from the Silverdale Noel Leeming.

The salesperson said "my box was left on a table and not put away" after the order came through online. .

I am happy with the product so far, just not the place where I bought it from and have fired off an email.

Trying..tried to watch this evening I suffered micro pauses and momentary black screens on multiple channels. This thing is driving me crazy (crazier). My wife feels we should just take the unit outside and run the car over it, many times.

@MikeB4 have you tried doing a Speed test from an Ethernet connected PC just to confirm you are getting the subscribed broadband speed?
