No, I had recorded all episodes a few days before viewing. Must check if it happens again with some other part recording.

I must say that the freezing problem appears to have been fixed. I have not had a freeze since the latest software update. Perhaps just luck?. I hope not.

The buffer gripe is like a red rag to a bull for me.  Last night perfect example. Record new season of the Killing which there was a double episode on last night, just so happened to coincide with Warriors game that I was recording as well. What happens? Buffer kills the 2nd episode because I can't seemingly record three things at once.

A simple fix would be that the T-Box would revert to have playing live/recording one of those chanels.

Funny thing thing about that Warriors game - Telstra had the T-Box advertising painted all over the pitch!!!!
When my Dad was over from Aussie a few weeks ago he know how to operate the T-Box as he said that his TV was the same. It didn't even click with me as I thought he was actually talking about the LG tv not the TBox.  We must hunt down all out Aussie T-Box cousins nad find out if they're having the same issues?

I would imaging that as with anything that's shared with Aussie in a commercial sense we are just tiny bit players and hang on the coat tails of what happens over there. I bet all the nonsense about testing in NZ is garbage. We just get what the Aussies get.

Re the Aussie situation ... google around and you'll see the same dramas.

Feb 2012 http://www.cnet.com.au/telstra-t-box-339303542.htm   The paragraph below is the first part of the cnet review.

"Since its initial release in 2010, the Telstra T-Box has been the butt of many a home-cinema joke, with many users claiming to have been hampered by technical difficulties and poor hardware. In July 2011, Telstra quietly released new T-Box hardware, which increased its internal storage capacity from 320GB to 1TB, but didn't attempt to address any of its customers' complaints"

I do quite like the look of that new box though.

Hi Fog,

While the frequency of crashes seems to have reduced quite a lot since the last software update, I certainly don't believe that it's fixed.

I haven't had a crash while the T-Box is "idle" which used to occur once or twice a week, but did have one the other night at the time a recording was scheduled to finish. This is a known issue which I think was supposed to be fixed, but obviously hasn't been.

So glad to hear your box is behaving, but I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet...

Cheers,
Pete.

The Australian T-Box is a completely different piece of hardware.

It is designed for the DVB-T market and not the DVB-C market here.

I think it even has a different company producing the firmware/software.

RobertT:
Shadbolt: Urrr - after my T-Box doing the "freeze at the end of a recording event" thing about three times a week, forever - especially since the most recent software update - it has stayed perfect for two weeks now.

The T-Box has had the same level of usage as normal, but hasn't faltered once.

Very odd. Let's see if this message will provoke it. ;-)

I'm now starting to trust it more.

You're lucky Shadbolt. Mine has been worse since the update with an average of one fail per week. It was around 1 a fortnight before. It's very annoying as I eithe miss some shows, or have to watch them  'ondemand' which seems to use some of my broadband allowance for the month.

Yep - the box froze at the end of a recording event - about three hours after I made my post, above.

Life's a funny thing!

That is disappointing. I thought that was one of the many problems that had been fixed. It looks as though I have just been lucky.

Well I spoke too soon. Just had a black screen 45 minutes into the TV3 news. It appears I jinxed myself by stating that I hadn't had a freeze since the last upgrade. Usual reboot fixed it. Lost a programme being recorded. The T/Box is back to its annoying condition.

Why can they not just resell MkySky boxes with a diffrent type of tuner plugged in?

Foxtel in Oz do that, much of urban Oz is covered by HFC cable owned by Optus, Foxtel distribute on this network where its available, The Foxtel iQ is identical to the MySky HDi its the identical box other than minor cosmetic software changes, so naturally they have DVB-S and DVB-C versions, other than that the boxs are identical.

Minor problem I’ve had for months:

When setting a recoding for a movie or a once off programme  pressing the record button on the remote shows a single record icon.

If the programme is part of a series, when pressing the record button a message comes up asking if you want to record the series or not.

The problem is that the series screen doesn’t always show when attempting to record a full series, it just goes straight to the single recording. This means  that the next part of the series is missed, or I need to make a note to record the next episode.   I estimate that the problem comes  up 25% of the time.

I don’t know if this is a problem with the T-Box software or Sky, and as I’ve said the problem is intermittent. Has anyone else seen this happen, and if so is there a work around?

When I raised this with TC in the distant past, it was explained to me that TC do not control the data that goes into the program guide, rather it is given to them by the various TV channel providers. As such, the latter do not always correctly load the key that identifies episodes as belonging to a series, and thus the TBOX does not generate the series-link prompt when you press the record button.
The curious thing is that when I talked with my neighbour with SKY about this, he has never come across this problem, so I remain uncertain that I was given a completely correct explanation. Frown

ADDENDUM:
I have found on those channels that broadcast a repeat of a series episodes during the week, then only one of the repeats (usually the last occurrence) will generate a series-link, the others just a single record.
