MikeB4: @IvanPiacun I have a LG 65" 4K TV. I currently have connected by HDMI the VTV and a Xbox One X.

@MikeB4 the Xbox One X had HDMI CEC Support added in an April 2018 update, I believe, so you should not have any problems turning on HDMI CEC on the LG 4K TV as it I believe won't cause any problems for VTV Gen2 STB. So this is definitely worth trying.

Are you using the HDMI cable for the VTV Gen2 STB that came with VTV?

No, changing the HDMI was one of the first things I did. I generally don't use bundled HDMI cables

@MikeB4 I suggest you try, the provided cable which is designed, I believe, to support 4K, and fully enable HDMI CEC on your TV.

I am using a Monster 1.2 HDMI cable rated at 18GBPS transfer rate, 8 Bit  colour and up to 120 HRZ refresh rate. I have the same cable on my Xbox and it handles 4K HDR transfer with no issues from the XBox. I am certain it will be better than any bundled cable. I will reinstate CEC but I am very sceptical that this will have any positive affect. I believe that I have eliminated the  environment and set up as being the cause of the issue. It is either the device hardware, firmware or the service that causing the issues being experienced by users.

I have thrown at a $179 device a $70 HDMI cable and a $20 shielded Cat6a Ethernet cable.

The $70 cable was overpriced. I have seen a Gen 2 STB working fine with an AliExpress cable I purchased for $4 NZ and it’s operating at 4K HDR output (handshaking). Also 4K HDR content from YouTube on the STB shows no issues.

Can you please remind me of your networking setup Mike?
Please include models and manufacturers. I still do no believe this is a hardware fault or a STB fault.
There has also been no issues of recent on the CDN.

Cheers
Grant

@ZollyMonsta I have an Orcon Netcomm NF18ACV  router that is running the latest firmware (confirmed by Orcon Tech) A Google WIFI Mesh system also using the latest firmware. Wifi is disabled on the Netcomm router. The VTV is connected to the Netcomm router via Cat6A Ethernet cable in to a 1,000 ethernet port. I have tried the VTV connected to the ethernet port on the Google router, I have tried the VTV with Wifi from the Google router, I have tried the VTV with Wifi from the Netcomm Router all to no avail. When I tested with Wifi I ensured that only one wifi router was active.

If this is no a hardware, STB, CDN fault then what could it be? I am absolutely convinced that it is not an issue with my network set up or performance. I can stream Netflix, Disney, Prime, Lightbox, YouTube all at HD or 4K without issue. I can steam from my Apple TV and my Xbox One X and TV without issue. I can stream 4K content on my TV and on my iMac at the same time with no issue. The only device I am having issues with is the VTV. I can be watching TV on my VTV and will have pauses etc, I immediately switch to broadcast TV on my TV same channel no issues. The common denominator in all this is the Vodafone TV unit and or service.I am very close to throwing the thing into the back of the garage to rot.

I do blame myself in this I have experienced the Vodafone T Box disaster so I should have known better. @JasonParis @sansom  Vodafone has got to stop releasing unfinished "Beta state" products onto the market and the expect customers to jump through hoops to try and get the product to a merchantable state. Every time I make changes to my set up it causes me considerable physical pain. I am not making anymore changes at my end except for the possible tossing of this subpar device.

Your tone looks like you think that I am in the wrong for trying to draw attention to an issue I and others are experiencing.

So from me it's over and out.

It may well work perfectly fine for a lot of people, but those who are experiencing problems are still entitled to upload their consumer rights.

@Linux I wasn't going to contribute more but dammit look back I have asked the same sodding questions multiple times, answered multiple times, jumped through hoops multiple times and got NO answers from Vodafone. If you don't like what I write don't read it.

Now I am out have a good Christmas and out

Well I am going to jump in, having only read this page.I cam in because the problems are back again.

Turn it on, loads up, black screen.

Menu loads the program guide, choose a program, black screen.

I have to say, as someone who has complained about my VF box from the beginning, that the dismissive minimizing comments and responses here can be enough to make people just leave.

When the VF Box works, its great, but getting it working, which I suspect is an internet issue,is a pain in the ass.

No one will confuse me for MikeB4's biggest fan but you really, really need to stop this behaviour of casting aspersions on users when they post about issues or contributing one-liners like the above. His contributions are entirely on topic, relevant and reasonable. Yours are pure ad hominem tripe.

In your vein, I often don’t agree with you - but here, spot on.
