MikeB do you have the same issues if you use Netflix through the Vodatv box?

@Sansom VTV does not appear to have as good a selection in the On Demand offerings from Sky to match MySky. Will this be improved to make it more worthwhile to get Sky with VTV?

I have been visiting my parents over Christmas who has received Vodafone TV for doing 12 or 24 contracts. Interestingly when I tried to set it up for them using Ethernet cable it would give SA002 error. Not sure what’s going on and tried multiple different ways using different cables and still the same. Can’t even use wifi option.

Has it for anything to do with Vodafone making a mistake thinking my dad has cancelled the contract and sent him a Courier bag to ship it back? He called them to say nothing has changed and he still has on going contract with them?

Any help would be appreciated. He has passed it on to me sort it as I am returning back to Wellington tomorrow.

That's a Gen1 box not a Gen2 box so you should not be posting that error in this thread. However I believe you have what is usually an account error which means Vodafone needs to sort it out so give them a call with the serial number of the VTV Gen1 box (which is underneath it) and your account number.

Note: Due to privacy issues you will probably not be able to sort it out unless your father has put an authorisation on his account for you.

SA002 error with gen 1 unit, means the device isn't linked to an account. I had this issue also, after 2 or 3 weeks trying to sort it they just sent out a new one.

Hi @IvanPiacun,

Sky have three types of On Demand:

- TVOD. Transactional Video On Demand, what most people think of as On Demand - pay the ticket price and watch the title over the next x hrs.

- SVOD. Subscription Video On Demand, Sky's Neon.

- EVOD.  Similar to SVOD, unique to NZ, Sky call this "entitlement video on demand" where you can watch the title at any time on MySky if you subscribe to the associated linear channel package that currently shows the content (Sky SoHo, Sky Movies etc).

All the On Demand rail on Vodafone TV is EVOD and should be exactly the same lineup as Sky's EVOD offering on their MySky box - about 8000 titles.  Please let me know if it isn't!  (haven't checked for a while)

We are working with Sky to bring their TVOD offering to Vodafone TV.  Note that in the meantime you can buy most recent releases on Google Play store and watch using the YouTube app, and also all the selection on Lightbox.

There's also all the SVOD available on Neon, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Lightbox, and YouTube (Premium).

To see which movies are available via any of Neon, Netflix, YouTube and Lightbox apps you can use the excellent (but not officially sanctioned) JustWatch app available on iOS and Android - search any movie or TV show and it will tell you which NZ apps it's available on, the pricing, synopsis, Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB ratings etc... and you can filter and search on these criteria also.

A question I know has been asked before, but can't seem to find it with a search...if you subscribe to Sky via VTV, do you get access to MySky? If memory serves, the answer is no...

@Sansom Hi Hamish. Not all of the Sky's EVOD is there e.g. S4,E11 and E13 of Madam Secretary are missing as are other episodes from other series, from the EVOD accessible via my beta firmware but are present on the general release firmware.

One year ago, on 1 January 2019, the ability to record NewsHub Live (3 News) stopped. It was not due to a restriction by NewsHub (I asked them). It took about 10 days for the problem to be fixed by Vodafone.

Sadly, as of today (1 January 2020) I have exactly the same problem.  This is now on a Gen 2 box.  Trying to record NewsHub comes up with “this programme cannot be recorded due to partner restrictions”.

This must be some kind of bug due to a new year. Please can this be fixed as soon as possible @sansom.  Thanks.

@tehoro Why would you even need to record it? Just select and play it from the planner

The option to restart NewsHub from the start is also not available.

That does not work for me either.  I couldn’t backup to the start of the programme. Please let me know if you can?

It usually takes a while for NewsHub to be available on the Three app, plus it is only SD and not HD.

Three news also stopped recording on my Freeview box. It is still in the scheduler but can't find the next event.
