ChristineNZL: Would love to know why ours finally died completely.

I would put yours down to Hard Drive failure. This can happen. I suspect the T-Box won't have S.M.A.R.T functions either which would notify the owner that their drive is about to die.

If you want to know, ask TC to do a S.M.A.R.T analysis on the drive.

Maybe that is why the 2 weeks leading up to its eventual death were why is was freezing up a lot more than usual. Either way I am just glad to not have to worry about it any more. Sure the past 2 weeks were bad but the 20 months before that were not great either! I'll be keeping an eye on this forum in a couple of months to see if the August update happens in August and if it actually works. Based on past experience with upgrades I wouldn't hold out too much hope that the major issues will be fixed.

Anyone else have a problem with rewinding near the beginning of a recording. I consistantly find I can't rewind until I've played a fair bit of a recording. Odd. Maybe I need to reboot.

Any of you still getting pixellation? Since the technician came out on Wednesday, I've seen no pixellation. I usually see it couple times a day. Also, the audio stuttering has disappeared too... Interesting..

I wonder if he reset the signals..

I'm almost certain several of us had this issue a long time ago, and that it was resolved by an update. I've always had 5 minutes padding so fast-forward to get to the show, invariably going a bit far. The problem was that I couldn't then go back. I've not had that problem in many months. If the reboot doesn't fix it then it'd be worth submitting the issue to Customer Support.

Yes, I get this when I have stopped viewing a recoding and then resume play where I last left off. For the first 10 seconds or so, I cannot rewind, the TBOX ignores the command. BUT if I first pause, then I can rewind. So that is my work-around.

Based on your experiences am I better off signing up to a T-Box or going with My-Sky? I'm currently on a 60gb in home plan with Telstra and would be looking at getting movies,sports,soho and hd ticket.

I have recently gone back to using T-Box, It has been 2 weeks since install and all is going fine, the picture quality is superior to MySkyHDi, I only had reception issues once and it was also occurring on the TiVo and a Freeview TV so it was not a T-Box issue as the Sky channels on the T-Box were OK.

No restarts have been required, the EPG is quick all in all the experience has been OK.

Anyone know of a rollout on Saturday night?? Woke up to T_Box sunday morning - frozen - and took two reboots to clear. Pixalation and sound skip bad last night for extended periods. No earthquakes of note here so can rule that one out.

Well we got our MySky installed on Friday and so far 3 failed recordings - argh! They have all failed due to no signal yet we were watching the TV and that was fine so it may be that one of the tuners used to record is faulty. Dare I say I almost miss the T-Box. Personally I haven't noticed any difference between the two as far as picture quality goes. MySky is definitely faster but there are certain things I like better about the T-Box (such as when you are in the various menus, planners, EPG, etc you can still see the channel you were watching up the top). Actually I prefer all the menu things on the T-Box but really all I want is a product that works and so far the MySky is no better but I have been assured that MySky is normally not unreliable so we must just be very unlucky.

Latest issue with our T Box; I set it to record TV1's "The Ultra Zionists" last night, Sunday 24/6, start time 10.10pm, upon going to watch it tonight, it has in fact recorded TV3's Robin Hood and and Touch. Pressing the info button shows "Louis Theroux - The Ultra Zionists"!!!! xxx@@@!!!

As far as I am concerned, this is the last straw. I have had an absolute gutsful of the T Box and I am phoning them tomorrow to request return of a digtial decoder and I will revert to my DVD recorder. I will battle it out as necessary over the cost of the decoder. Watch his space!

The random recording feature is one that's struck many of us many times. When I've reported it to Customer Support their replies implied this is indeed a T-Box fault (and not the EPG). Because it's been in the fix-it list for so long I'm hopeful that a remedy will be in the next update. It's certainly a particularly annoying issue.

I say go for it Allan...we had that and all of the other issues here ....which finally tipped me over the edge.

So far for us SkyhDi has been good...no worries. Like Christine...I reckon the menus and banners are pretty awful....the planner doesn't seem to be as good either.....and I'm not sure the HD quality is as good as Telstra cable... But it works great....am loving watching the rugby and soccer with no worries about recording or picture quality.

And we were able to cancel out of contract...stay on a $75 40GB + phone line and go to sky and pick up a very similar package with free sport for six months......in fact we have doubled our data and saved $10 a month.

If you go into Setup -> System Setup -> System Settings -> Signal Test. Check to make sure all 4 tuners have "yellow" or better "green" bars. If you're recording two different channels they may be on different transponders and you would see TS0/1/2/... on the left depending on the tuner. I think the installer hadn't done the install correctly since it sounds to me like the additional tuners aren't setup properly. I've had my MySky for 18 months now and it hasn't missed a beat (rebooted it twice since I installed it due to swapping around power plugs)

I rebooted the box the other night. I was getting fed up with the playback banner and options menu displaying on screen for 30 seconds every time I fast-forwarded through the adds, or pushed the options button (which I don't do verry often). I had to reboot 4 times as the T-box menus wouldn't display (again), however the final reboot bought everything back and the playback banner is now only displaying for 5 seconds or so, so I'm much happier.

The problem is, I can't rely on the box to display menu's etc on rebooting.

I also seem to recall in earlier versions of the software that during a reboot, I got information displayed on screen as the T-box ran a POST etc. None of that is displayed any more, so I usually have to wait until the TV picture comes back up to know it's working.

Gary - could you tell us, or give us a link to a page that will list what the next update will address, and when can we expect to see the next update?
