I really don't understand why Vodafone would pull something as dumb as this.

They had the opportunity to buy into the Apple experience, get customers that want to actually use their services, and be happy and therefore loyal.

Instead, they overprice such that, frankly you'd have to be a real nutcase to go for those plans. The types of people that will be able to afford this are also the types of people that can spot a ripoff a mile away - and that's all this is, a blatant ripoff.

I have more disposable income than most, having been lucky with various business deals - however there's no way I would consider paying what, all up $6000+ for something available overseas for much less.

I, like no doubt many others, will be voting with my dollars - not only will I not be buying an Iphone from Vodafone, I won't touch anything else the company offers.

So... who's going to write a petition to Steve about the pricing of Vodafone? I will sign on it definitely.

From a business point of view these are not too bad.

My experience is with my current HTC Touch (GSM) which has many of the specs of the iPhone.  I connect to an Exchange server for email, use Google Maps, some web browsing and a few web based services (such as weather).  The $130 plan with 250GB data in my experience would be more than ample to handle my data requirements.

Most of the data is transferred using WiFi at work and home, so the Vodafone data is only used while out of those environments.

Apart from buying a new phone, I would not see too much difference in monthly cost to what I am paying now.

I'll definitely get one this year.

Those prices have put me off for the plans. I might go for just the phone instead.

So what happens to these plans when Telecom release their GSM network and hopefully the iPhone?  Telecom have now got an excellent opportunity to really do VFNZ over.

Hear hear! No way I'm buying one. They've just killed any expectations I had.

I was willing to pay $50 a month MAX for 300mb with 20 mins and 600/2000 text included, with a max of $300 for the phone itself. I do believe we have the highest price in the world now. Makes me laugh at all those posters before saying how it's going to be "competitively priced"....

"Hi all, yes we're doing some special stuff around the launch and around being first in the world. I'm getting calls from places like London and LA about availability, whether they can buy a suitcase full and that kind of thing.

We're not going to have millions of them so there will be issues around supply ...

And the price will be nice. Laughing

Cheers

Paul "

Quote taken from Max X OS forum.

Hey Paul

Find me one person who doesn't work for vodafone or have shares in vodafone that thinks the prices released are "nice".

WHat a joke. I reckon we've just seen the lines of people queing for the phone drop massively.
If they'd offered a fair service for a fair price I might have been interested. As someone pointed out - paralell import will be the way to go if you wanted one.

Those prices don't seem well suited to the most likely demographics.

I currently pay $40/mth for 200 VF-Vf minute, 20 anytime, 200 texts... $80/mth is too big a jump for me at the moment.

I still think the price of mobile data is a joke - I mean it costs nothing to transit across the network, and they own an ISP.

Guess I'll stick with my crappy Samsung a whlie longer.

 I already rang them, mwahaha.

And unfortunately, they only have 1 store with stock, and they dont know if they will get the 3g one depending on how the market goes..

So I'd say yor outta' luck there too
