Just wondering if anyone is using an infra red remote extender with a T-Box?  I've believe that some set top box / PVR's use a different IR frequency to normal, and not all the standard extenders will work.

Would also like to be able to control a Tivo over the same extender.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Pete.

I am not familiar with the term "remote extender".
Do you mean a "Universal Remote", that is, a remote that learns (or knows) IR commands of devices so you can manage them all on the one remote?
That being the case, I use one with my T-Box (Digitor touch screen Commander) and have not had any problems so far.

Hi Garfield,

By Remote Extender I was referring to one of those transmitter / receiver systems that lets you control a device using an IR remote from another room.

Anyway I got one from Jaycar who offer right of return within 7 days if it doesn't work, and it seems fine.

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi

I know you made your purcahse and I am glad it worked out.  We were renovating so we out in a blue eye system and it worked very well.  If you renovate it woudl be worth considering.  Only drawback is with the wife and children it is hard to work out what is on and off and so it can get confusing.  There is not feedback on the status of the devices you can get when you can simply look at them.  Next step has to be a universal remote (probably easier than trying to upgrade wife and children!

Get a Logitech harmony. Best thing for the WAF.
