I've found since the free txt (sms) weekends have finished (although it has not been a long time). That I much prefer the txt2000 addon. I now have the freedom to txt anytime, if its the weekend or not and we aren't under the "15 minutes left we have to finish this conversation" type things.

Thankyou Vodafone for the awesome promotion while it lasted and thankyou for swapping it with something even better.

Discuss. Smile

Well one has to admit that the 'addons' for prepaid are a step in the right direction (even if there is an question mark over value for money for account customers)...

The bestmate idea is actually quite a good one too.

Yes, agreed!  My wife is away for the weekend and she has been calling my mobile quite a lot over various things.  It's nice to know it's only costing $6 for the whole month.  A bargain really, cheers Vodafone Laughing.

I am also thinking of getting a Prepay Mobile for the office staff to use and immediately putting it on Supa Prepay / Best Mate so they can call me wherever I happen to be for only $6 per month.

Why pay 32c per minute to make a Land-Mobile call when you can make a whole month worth of calls for $6?

In both of these scenarios, our use of landlines will reduce dramatically and we will to tend to use our mobiles a lot more...  Which I guess is what Vodafone was aiming for.  It suits me down to the ground as I'm not tied to using phones which are anchored to a wall socket Smile.

I can see the market for gsm terminals for pabx's exploding with this offer. Previously you have had to use the talkzone zero to achieve cost effective diversion of deskphones to mobiles, now its only $6 a month per user of it. Still, you lose the caller ID diverting that way but the savings make it worth it.

I like the Bestmate idea. My girlfriend is on prepay and can now call me at anytime- I think it's a good scheme Vodafone have included video calls too as now I'm thinking of getting her a video-calling capable phone. Otherwise I would not have bothered.
I suppose we'll see Bestmate for on account customers at some stage as well...?

I will miss the free unlimited weekend texts- The most I sent was 526 in one day.

But bestmate is limited to one number per phone, so you would need a GSM mobile trunking unit PER team member in this new scenario... (unless I misunderstand you).

Under talkzone zero, one trunking unit could call all team members at zero cost.

If the romors are true and You Choose allows up to 5 BestMates it will work out cheaper than TalkZone.

text 2000 addon for prepay is great and is perfect for replacing free text weekends.

what did on account customers get in repalcement of free text weekends? nothing!

so yea now our weekend texts either cost us, or get taken out of our text bundles which arn't anywhere as high as the prepay txt bundles.

On Account are surposed to have something similar to bestmate, not the same. Could include a minutes cap, duration cap... we dont know... but all we do know is that it wont be the same.

Rumours are a dime a dozen around here!!

5 bestmates would be pretty cool (and give the on account customers something to crow about compared to prepay)

On topic - no more free weekend texting - awesome, perhaps the younger people in my family will go back to one cellphone, and I wont have to guess which one they are carrying / have credit on, to be able to communicate with them!!

Vodafone themselves say that mutliple BestMates will be available early next year. The logical assumption you can take is that this will be a YouChoose addon and the 5 number was mentioned to my by a well informed source.

Yes, I am still looking for one that does sip, but the savings would be huge enough to allow for it, and if there is one for each staffmember then there will be no issues with it being in use when another person gets a call.

I have seen solutions to make calls on old cellphones via data cable and an audio connection to the headset jack, seems a bit primative but may be workable.

Give Zultys in Wellington a call for info on a SIP to GSM gateway, they have them running into their VOIP PBX box.
