Hi,

We've been helping out a friend who is moving into a new house. TCL installed their line before they moved in, so when they finally made the move, for some reason they had to unscrew all the wires that had been set up in order to put everything where it belongs.

I wanted to find out if anyone could help with the following question: For an install that has a T-Box and an internet cable modem, there are three cable based connections:

1. Internet modem
2. T-box
3. Extra modem that serves the T-box.

When these wires are connected to the splitter, could you help me figure out which device uses which splitter output? There are two outputs available that have "7db" written above, and one that has "3.5db" written above. Not sure which device connects to which splitter port.

Any help would be much appreciated!

The splitter I am guessing is a three way.  One in and three out.

I would plug the T-Box into the 3.5dB port.

The other two modems would go one each in the 7dB ports.

The only time this would change is if you are running an extra long RG6 cable to say a modem somewhere else in the house, then I would put this on the 3.5dB port as it has a little more signal than the other two ports.

Yes that's right, one in and three out.

The cable length is pretty short as it comes out of the wall socket so I will go with your advice of 3.5 to the T-Box and the two 7s to the modems.

Thanks very much for your help!
