Ok, my plan got switched up today 29th it just so happens its my last day of my normal billing cycle, ive gone from lightspeed 60gb to warpspeed 100gb but says i've got 8 hours to use 100gb.. is this just the way they pro rata the data, so in other words i will get charged 1 day extra for my new plan but will be credited 1 day for my old plan?... i don't have to actually use 100gb before midnight?... confused girl

Its not prorated if you 100GB to use today

I don't know how telstra work, but if you change plans mid-cycle with Telecom, they prorate your charges, but reset your usage.

You don't have to use it, but you can :-) Turn up the torrents!

Edit to add: that the post before mine is correct from my memory of my last upgrade at TelstraClear - they pro-rate your account (so you pay 1 day of the new account) but you have the full data allocation for that prorated period (100 gb, for that 1 day :)).

Essentially though, what the others have said is correct - the monthly charge is worked out on a daily basis. Because your billing date is different to the changeover date, in this case you've got lots of extra data to use if you want to.

I wouldn't suggest downloading anything illegal, especially now you've posted online that you have bandwidth to use up. You can get your internet connection cut off.

Just a got ya to be aware of and something I found out the hard way is that if you have used over your allocation of data for the month and then upgrade you will still be billed for the additional data use even though you might have only used a fraction of the new data allocation.
This was different to what was explained to me at the time by the call center person. When I called back after being billed the person I talked to the second time confirmed that I had been given the wrong info.
