Hi Phil,

We just encountered the same problem for a second time so I think it is a definite issue:

Callers from the Paihia/Russell exchange (403-xxxx) numbers are unable to get through to our VFX number.  They receive the Beep-Beep-Beep-Beep (number unobtainable) tone.

The first report of this was back at the start of November, only 2 days after our VFX number was connected, so I thought it might resolve itself given a bit of time.

However, it is now 17 days after we had the service connected, so it looks to me as if the 403-xxxx exchange has not been setup to recognise VFX numbers.

Could you take this up with whatever organisation is responsible for the 403-xxxx exchange?

Thanks Phil.

Thanks Grant,

This will be most likely due to Telecom not having opened up the number ranges in that exchange , Telecom have been pretty good on this though first time I have heard of a Telecom exchange not getting through to our numbers, I will have this chased up in Telecom, it will also help if the A Party 403 xxxx caller rings Telecom and asks why this number can not be dialled from their Number when it can be dialled from other Telecom Numbers as the issue is actaully Telecoms and it carries more weight if one of their own customers ask's the question.

If you could expand the 403 xxxx digit to one more as well as the calling areas are broken up a little more than that :)

Also if you could email the Number of the Caller the Number he called and the Date/Time he did the call so I can also check our system just in case

After very exhaustive work by our faults Guy, the issue has been identified the Numbers that are dialling you are Callplus Customers for Tolls and they are not routing the Calls to our Number Ranges, the Issue is not Telecoms but a Callplus as they are still not routing our Number Ranges.

Work around is that they can dial 059 which will put them back on the Telecom Network who will route our Calls,

We are pushing very hard for Callplus and Vodafone to sort this out as they are the 2 carriers that have been extremly slow in sorting this out.

Our aploagies for this we are working as hard as we can to sort this.

I've called one of the affected people to let them know what was going on, and as you have ascertained, they use Slingshot (part of Callplus) for their toll calls.

I figured that they could dial 059 09 xxx xxxx (routing via Telecom) to reach our VFX number and have advised them accordingly.

Obviously Callplus are not exactly falling over themselves to help their newest competitor, but that is disappointing behaviour because it can cut both ways...

Thanks very much for your prompt action on this.

Cheers,
Grant.

Callplus just phoned me to say they are working on it now.

Wow, this is much quicker than I expected.

Thanks Phil.

No... Eavesdroping sounds bad. I'd say "monitoring". We know Telecom, TesltraClear, Vodafone, Woosh, WorldxChange (in alphabetical order) have people lurking around here. I'd expect others too...

Callplus responded to this matter after a couple of escalation requests that we pushed this afternoon / tonight, to their Credit they did work to get it fixed after the matter was escalated.

WorldxChange Numbers should now be accessible from the CallPlus / italk network

I too was having trouble calling from iTalk to VFX, was going to follow this up next week. Just checked and all is now going. However, something that may be of interest, when I first got my VFX number, I could call it from iTalk, even have the itemised bill showing this. So I guess the question is, why did it stop working?

When I first got my VFX number on Nov 1, I tried calling it from my iTalk number (before reconfiguring my PAP2).  Immediately I got Beep-Beep-Beep-Beep (number unobtainable) same as our caller got today.  I just figured it was because I hadn't hooked up my PAP2 to the VFX service yet, so my number was being treated as Not in Service.  However I did wonder why it didn't go to Voice Mail instead.

Now it becomes clear:  Anyone who uses Callplus / Slingshot / iTalk was never able to access our VFX number until about 2 hours ago...

I'm glad this has been sorted today without any more time going by.

Coffeebaron:  When exactly did you first get your VFX number?

Strange, I'm sure I posted my reply here last night. Ah well.

I got my VFX number mid October, and I could call it from iTalk then. I think it was early November that I found I could no longer call from iTalk to VFX. A bit of a mystery as to why it stopped working, but going again now.
