Hello everyone!

Could anyone help? I've got a basic VFX 'n' PAP2T setup at home, which has been working brilliantly for the past couple of years.

I have a more advanced requirement now, though: For certain incoming callers (based on their Caller IDs), I'd like the phone not to ring, but for them to be played a prerecorded message instead.

Does anyone know of a way of doing this with my current setup, or are we in Asterisk land? (Something that springs to mind is that I don't currently use the VFX voicemail service - if I set up my message as a voicemail greeting, is there any way of immediately and automatically redirecting certain callers straight to that?)

Im not sure about asterisk options but it is available through some VFX features.

You can ask for a mail box only service and setup a customer voice message on that.

With your existing phone number you'll need to add the advanced feature pack and activate an option within that called Call Fowarding Selective.
You can then add up to 12 numbers that you want to forward to a specified number. (Voicemail Only #)

Not sure of the costs involved with this but im sure their sales team would be able to answer that.

Yep you got it Phillip... Call Forward selective

Call Forwarding Selective Enables a user to define criteria that causes certain incoming calls to be redirected to user-specified destinations ... ie call forward to 082210 the voice-mail number

Selective Call Rejection Enables a user to define criteria that causes certain incoming calls to be rejected and provided a treatment. . All other calls terminate as usual.

Thanks for the hints about the VFX advanced features pack. I'm not sure about ordering a second mailbox only line - it's an additional $11.50 a month, which isn't a big deal in itself, but more specifically I wouldn't be interested in the callers leaving messages.

Does anyone who subscribes to the advanced features know whether you can specify a custom message for use with the selective call rejection service? That might work. The description says that callers are 'provided a treatment', but I don't know what that means!

"The user is not accepting calls at this time" is the message I believe for selective call rejection, it does not allow them to leave a message

Actually it will be selective call rejection.
I was close, the actual prompt they will receive is
"The party you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time"
