I have been using open VFX successfully on a Patton Smartlink 4050 VoIP phone for several weeks now. All good but tied to a "fixed" phone location rather than a cordless.

Studying the options I purchased a Siemens Gigaset A580 IP portable phone to use. The fun begins...

The A580 has a base unit that connects to the router etc and then uses wireless (1900Mhz I think) to talk to the handset, all this works OK. I can browse to the A580 base unit and configure etc.

The unit fails to register with the VFX server.

The relavent settings are below

Authentication Name  xxxxxxxxx (works on the Patton phone)
Authentication Password  xxxxxxxx (works on the Patton phone)
Username 7xxxxxxx  (You guessed it, same as the Patton)

Domain wxnz.net
Proxy Server address pan.wxnz.net
Proxy Server port 5060

(I have also tried with no proxy settings.....)

Registrar Server pan.wxnz.net
Registrar Server Port 5060
Registration Refresh time  180

STUN  =No

Outbound Proxy Mode = Auto
Outbound Proxy  pan.wxnz.net
Port 5060

I have also tried this with no proxy settings as well, The Patton does not use either proxy of stun as far as I can see.

Manual for the A580 is here  http://gigaset.com/hq/en/cms/PageCustomerServicesDownloadsManuals.html

Many thanks in advance

Brett

There are a number of threads on here discussing the settings for this phone. Your best bet would be to use the seach option and read what is availale.

Here's a few

I have the same phone, just tick use random ports or some similar worded option..
great phones, dont understand why they are not supported, its like an ISP only supporting one email program...
those days are over...

They're nice hardware but have no remote auto provisioning capabilities and can't have country specific tones set so they can't get a telepermit. These are two major limitations that limit their usefulness.

I think you need to change to:
Domain: pan.wxnz.net

I have a S685 and that is needed.
The other threads refereed to above agree.

Thanks to all, it now goes. As one of the threads says, you just need the Auth Name and Password, ID and the registration server.

However you also need the Domain to be set to pan.wxnz.net as well, thanks gstarkey!
