I've just moved to my first android device from an old nokia. Kept my same VF prepay sim. I don't seem to be able to send or receive PXT messages anymore. And I think the phone isn't connecting via 3G. I know I'm in a 3G coverage area. I've seen screen shots of Huawei G300 displaying a little 3G symbol, but I have yet to see it on my phone. I have mobile data turned off becuase I don't want any apps using mobile data. Does this have to be switched on for 3G to work? I thought 3G was for callig too.

If you have mobile data turned off you can't send or receive PXT (MMS) Also the 3G icon will disappear

Voice calls still go over the 3G network

Ahhh ok. I'm guessing I have to work out a way to stop apps accessing via 3G so I can still receive MMS.
Thanks.

It's just not 3G related apps can still use mobile data over the 2G packet swtiched network,

I have read many people advising people to disable 3G to stop apps accessing the interent which is pointless

Right, yes that makes sense. I'll have to see if I can stop apps accessing mobile data, both 2G and 3G.

Or buy some data so you can use the handset as intended. Its cheap enough.

People send PXT's?! Why?

Just attach the image to an email and send it!

And if someone does not have the email client setup on the handset?
