I got this phone in the weekend and it's playing up something chronic.

The message alert tones preview in a really nice loud full volume, when I actually get a message, the actual volume is just pathetic, a lot of nokia's seem to have this fault... it's not fit for it's intended purpose,.

The software locks up all the time and just crashes, absoluetly terrible, does it mainly when playing any form of media, maybe once every 5 minutes.

Camera images have far too much "enhancement" applied making them look unusable, even in 640x480, the video is perfect so it's not the camera itself.

Vodafone firmare maybe? this just seems to be an ongoing problem with the customised frimwares.

My 6234 has crashed several times in the last few weeks when composing text messages. First couple of times I thought I had hit a wrong key. Phone loses the message being typed, turns off and turns on immediately. Last night turned itself off completely when I connected it directly to the carkit. Normally I use bluetooth. Are there some firmware issues with this phone?

There is a new firware update avail according to MobileFoneRepair. I will get mine upgraded ASAP and post any changes or fixes here.

The crashes on mine are identical... shame about the 5 second low-volume then full blast for text message alerts, this is VERY irritating, I might look into loading (hacking) the unbranded 6233 firmware on somehow.

I have managed to Debrand a Motorola Razr v3x and e770v and am working to unbranding a v600i though that little ericsson has been a very reliable phone....
The e770v has numerous problems with the Vodafone firmware and almost were recalled as a result..
But the taiwanese brandless one is perfect! no more camera crash and faster navigation.... Blog post to follow for this.

I got my 6234 when it first came out, and I've had very few problems. The only one I have is when dialing a speed-dial number, sometimes the phone thinks I want to make a video call, and then gives me error tones when it figures out the other phone can't VC.
