Good afternoon

My partners father has just signed up to Telstra Clear, after being with another ISP for about a year and decided to keep the Thompson modem he had, however it keeps disconnecting every few hours or so and has to be connected again manually from the router configuration. Is there any issues with these modems on the Telstra network as it seemed to work fine on previous ISP.

I have heard these are "not so good" on other than Chorus DSL connections.  However if it's a new connection it may be a line fault, so if you don't have another modem to try, start there.

Don't TCL give you a "free" modem as part of their deal anyway?

They do, he opted out of the free modem due to already having the Thompson. In the end they are going to send him a new Telstra modem.
