Wife and I have iPhone4s we got from VF on a really good plan for us (30 mins/2500 txt/3Gb data)

These plans end in about 2-3 months.

According to the VF FAQ it says the following. What I want to know is - can we buy an iPhone5 and get a new nano-sim and stay on the plans we are on (which are legacy plans not eligible for resigning) ???

From the VF Support pages:

"What happens when I'm out of termYour account will run as it did before with the same features, but you are now free to re-sign and upgrade your phone as you wish.

The contract carries on as a month-by-month plan untill you decide to change it. You can change the type of plan you have, have a chat with us and we'll see what the best options are for you."

Edit: Found this thread on the VF Forums which seems to answer my question except for the Nano-SIM switch part

Hi there

You can keep your current plan until further notice. If you want to switch to a nano sim that's absolutely fine, we'll have them in store from 28 September. I'm not certain about sim pricing at the moment, I imagine it'll be similar to micro sims.

We only have the iPhone 5 available on new Smart Data plans at this time. We will have options to purchase it outright on Prepay in future but can't confirm when that will be.

Cheers

Dylan

If I sign up for a 24 month plan, can I release my original number and substitute it with another number later (e.g the wife's) without breaking contract? That way I can use my original number for another purpose but the contract as such will remain.

Changing to a nano SIM is just a simple SIM swap when they reach the shops,

Yes this is possible but a little more complex,

Thanks for the info. Looks like I can keep my plan and get a new iPhone without much trouble.

Pity I can't get the phone from VF but I guess I'll just have to deal with that.
