Hey yas.

I'm confused, I'm looking at buying a new Motorola V3x RAZR.
But there seems to be two models named the same available on the market. One is currently $400 @ DSE and the other $700 @ DSE.

Does anybody have any idea what the difference is between them?
Also I'm looking for some user feedback on the phone, so please feel free to post some.

Thanks very much.

Phil.

You mean the ones on this page?

Looks like the same one, but the $400 model is marked "clearance item" which would explain why it's cheaper. Give DSE a call?

I understood it to be that black model was $700 and the ash/silver and pink models were $399. Their HSDPA model i think is the v3xx or Maxx model which isn't available in NZ yet as far as I know.

The silver is at a Christmas special price as its a simple pack, meaning no memory card/data cable/software/headphones.

The pink and black still come with those.

On feedback from an owner, I've had mine (ash color) for 2 weeks now. I guess the thing to be aware of is that this phone is wider than others as a tradeoff for it being relatively slim (in height). This is fine for some people since it fits in your pocket better, but some people might prefer another shape. Depends on how that size feels in your hand I guess.

The primary screen is great, though like the reviews I read say, the secondary LCD is difficult to read in direct sunlight.

Reception is good for me. It can get a vodafone signal when other mobiles in the house can't.

For what I use it for (txt and calls primarily), it's great so far.

Hope some of that helps. Sorry I can't give much feedback on things like the camera since I'm biased toward the quality I get from my Canon 350D camera.

the camera is average... clarity is not superb but generally good looking pictures and not too enhanced.

video capture mode is really nasty... not even worth mentioning. mp4 video playback does look very good however.

the ui is slightly sluggish but better than many phones. nice and logical

the display is great. nice clarity

the speaker/ringer is quieter than most though it's usable.

the keys are a joy to use... nice and big and very responsive. if the size does not bother you, this might be reason enough to get one... i can't stand the tiny keys squished up on many phones.

the only thing i don't like is the size.... its thinner than most phones but not by much really and yes, it's very wide.

if you can possibly get rid of the horrid vodafone firmware. the phone sees a marked improvement.

Is that was PHF stands for on the DSE website? Portable head-?fones?

All those thing are fairly easy to get, Data cable would be easy to get cheap since its a common plug, same with memory card, 512mb one costs about $30, software would be downloadable somewhere (unless its VFNZ special) and the headphones are like $160, doesn't seem to add up to $400 extra vodafone want.

USB Cable - $10 from DSE
512mb mem card - $35 from heaps of online shops
Headphones - $160 expansys(quick google, somewhere else might be cheaper)
Software - Gotta be downloadable somewhere.

Total = $205, That'd a hell of a saving or is it $195 for black?

...Or am I missing something?

Sweet. thanks for the help guys.

just to add to the confusion.
Vodafone has said I'm able to get the Motorola V3x usually $400 for $250 through the vbox thing.
On my vbox it says the V3x fone has got 64mb of memory.
I asked at DSE and they said the $400 version of the V3x doesnt come with that much memory.
??????
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

What I mean is that they are only giving out vbox offers to people on contract, ive been on vodafone prepay for about 4 years.
