Hi.

I've just moved home from the USA where I was using a P910a, which is the P910 released for the US market supporting 850, 1800 and 1900 Mhz.  I was (wrongly) under the impression I'd be able to use it here - but have now found Vodafone has 900 Mhz only.

Does anyone know if the P910 is able to be modified, to support the 'radio' from a P910i or P910c - which supports 900Mhz ??

Otherwise, I have a very expensive 'organiZer' !!

Thanks

Simon

The P910A has a different radio that supports the 850/1800/1900mhz bands while the P910C/I supportss the 900/1800/1900mhz bands.
Its hardware based so its not a matter of just reflashing the device which is a pity.

VFNZ by memory do operate a network in the main centers off 1800mhz?? I'm not too sure if this is true or not but I've heard it branded around, would be nice to get some confirmation on this.

Vodafone have 1800MHz sites in most of the main cities.

You're not going to get good coverage however as these sites are primarily infill in the CBD.

Is it possible for the 'mainboard' or something to be replaced?  A hardware swap-out or something??

My only other option is to sell it on ebay and ship to the buyer in the US, which is a real pain!  And then, turn around and try and find something here....

Thanks again

Simon

I don't claim to be an expert on the matter but replacing the mainboard would probably take up more money and time than buying a new one would.... unless you can source something off trademe/ebay and put it in yourself.
Even still, you risk turning the phone into a brick if anything goes astray. I'd personally recommend trying to sell it either here or overseas so you can at least get some money back even if it means selling at a loss.

I'd venture a guess and say Mobile Fone repair probably won't touch the phone (or do what you requested).

May as well purchase a new phone off trademe putting new guts in the handset is pointless and costly
