Greetings,

Whatever the last T-Box update did, seems to have made a noticeable difference in reliability.

Haven't had to (forced) reboot once, and all recordings have worked.

Currently on T-Box with Freeview, and now seriously considering T-Box with Sky (after only waiting 2 or so years for it to be a viable alternative to MySkyHDi).

Can anyone tell me if there are quality issues using T-Box with Sky please?

Aeons ago we used to have the original Saturn decoder, and I can recall a few of the re-feeds from Sky were just appalling.

TIA.

Hi Zaptor. There are no quality issues with our SKY feed. If you'd like to upgrade please PM me with a contcat number and I'll get one of the team to call you to answer any questions.

Cheers, Gary

Hi Zaptor, as far as image quality of Sky on a T-Box or standard Telstra box, there should be no real issue, Telstra dont decode and re encode Skys transport streams, rather they decrypt them then re encrypt them but leave the mpeg coding intact.

Hope that helps.

Cyril

Indeed it does. Thanks Cyril.

Looks like I'll be switching ... finally.

cyril7: ?

It's annoying enough that InHome customers get short-strawed on the new TC deals.

Then to be told of certain installation/upgrade costs that weren't mentioned in the initial consultation.

I've been with TC/Saturn for over a decade, so am somewhat irked....

I used to have one of those boxes too so I understand what you mean by the sky feeds not being so good.

I have the T-box with Sport and Movies.  I also have the HD-ticket which I think is really important.  I think it is $9.95 per month. If you get the movies and sport then it is well worth getting, if you don't get movies and sport then I wouldn't bother as the HD freeview channels, 1, 2 etc are broadcast in HD without the ticket.

The HD sports and movies are awesome.  The SD picture is also good.  Some have said that they think the picture is even better than sky... I don't know about that... but I would say it is at least as good.

I noticed on another thread you said something about recording PPV movies.  You can't record PPV movies on the T-box but you can pause and rewind them.

Also you would have noticed the flickering on you T-Box with Freeview.  I have not seen this again since the update a couple of days ago.  Does not mean it won't happen but it used to happen regularly for me.  Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Cheers
Kirk.
