I started getting my parents through a wireless provider, but now they can't provide any services to them (Rural Nelson) - Now, they're having to go through Farmside Satellite for internet. The problem is that I have already started porting their number across to 2talk from their old address of which we are needing done ASAP.

How is performance / voice quality over 2talk via Satellite? I'd assume that the latency would be quite shocking, I have already bought him a Linksys ATA, just wondering if it's worth cancelling the port and just getting a landline installed.

Chur.

I would definitely go for the landline.  We have some friends who tried Farmside's VoIP service and they said it was like using a Radio Telephone where you needed to say "Over" and then wait for the other end to respond.  Latency was indeed shocking, and they quickly ditched it before installing a landline.

Is farmside the only option available? Even a lowly 1mbps SHDSL sevrice is probably similar cost/speed but would be better for VOIP? I think it will work but the jitter factor is important.

Sadly I have exhausted all options for getting them any kind of internet through the phoneline apart from Dialup. I've literally tried everything including SHDSL.

Give Farmside a buzz and ask how their performance using voip is.

I've asked 2 providers who resell Araneo and their answer was no, told you I have literally tried all options ;)

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
