I find that trying to use the Vodafone iOS app when connected via 2G/GSM results in an error message when opening the app - effectively saying call 777 for help. This is a different error message than you receive when there is no internet connection available (i.e. no cell signal or WiFi).

At the point this happens, other apps connect to the internet fine, web browsing, mail etc. work fine (slowly of course, not being 3G).

VF app works fine when connected via 3G or WiFi.

iOS 6.1.2
VF app 1.1.5
On pre-pay smart

Can anyone confirm if they see the same issue, or if this is a problem at my end?

I confirm the same issue. The phone is useless when on 2G on this network.

I haven't had a problem with 2G as such; sure it's pretty slow, but that's to be expected.

It's just this one app that doesn't connect as I would have expected.

Thanks John. I've connected a master filter on to the dock connector, but sparks and smoke came out - didn't make the app workWink

Digging up an old thread, but this issue appears to have been resolved - no doubt thanks to johnr ;-)
