seeing as the end of May is looming fast, has anyone in Christchurch seeing 4G services yet, as last month Vodafone were talking about late May launch?

Friend in CHCH posted a screenshot on facebook for a speedtest. The status bar said it was LTE but I can't confirm its the case. Apparently its still in test but I dont know how he got that. It was very slow compared to other tests I've seen in person in Auckland.

Does anyone know (or perhaps more importantly, can anyone link to or describe) what the initial Christchurch LTE coverage map will look like when it gets turned on this week?

So it looks like 4G is now live in Christchurch from the VF website.

I'm currently sitting in a location with no LTE coverage, has anyone else managed to connect?

Do you meet the requirements to connect to the 4G / LTE network?

For 4G access to have to use the APN ' vodafone '

iPhone 5 on Vodafone Red Business, so from what I can tell I should meet the requirements. LTE is enabled in settings.

Current APN is 'www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz' but switching to 'vodafone' makes no difference. What is the difference between these two APNs anyway? Neither is listed in the Vodafone APN sticky thread.

As I said, I'm on the fringe for LTE coverage at present based on the map, so it doesn't surprise me that it's not connecting. I'll try elsewhere in the city later today.

I live in an area and get LTE, however my work is also in an LTE area but no LTE, still 3g? Both are on the coverage map.

Is this inside or outside the building?

Just went outside the building and 4g popped up, tested and got 70mb download, 25 mb upload.

Why wouldn;t it work inside? Signal strength?

It would depend on what the building is made of and many other factors, 4G as of today is on 1800Mhz but 3G is on 900Mhz which will have better building penetration
