Maverick I signed up yesterday with VFX and am just waiting for Linksys PAP2T Internet Phone Adapter which is coming from Ascent. I kinda got it the wrong way round (signing up before getting the device) as to be honest it is a little unclear on the web site as to what steps you need to take and in what order.
However my question is. So once I know the mac address of the adapter and have given it to you guys how long does it take to be given a number and be able to start using it?
Also you need our existing number but I am not quite sure what for? My intention is to leave the landline active for the next month but use VFX and then if all is good remove the landline (with Telstraclear so can do this)

Thanks for the feedback, I will have a chat to our Web / Sales guys and pass your comments on,
It should be generall pretty quick, I think the lead time for provisioning is 5 days but generally I think it would be same day.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you answer the last question being what do you need our current phone number for? I see in another post that you say you will be able to move the number over using number portability (next month). Does that mean that when I shut down the landline we will be able to take our existing number with us and use it on the VFX?

Not 100% sure of why , could be to do with setting up an account if you don't have one with us already, ie we need a reference. Yes that is correct you will be able to move your old Telecom number to the VFX service and replace your current VFX number if you like, or have it as a second line....up to you

OK sorry for the millions of questions but I have one more for you. When the provisoning is done must the PAP2T be available on the internet or can the provisioning be done before it is plugged in and it will set itself up when it is turned on and connected?

"Can you answer the last question being what do you need our current phone number for?"

Maybe....
In my case I was given a number with the same last three digits as my T'com number.  Don't know if that is general practice or coincidence!  I hadn't been cheeky enough to ask if there was any choice of numbers as I can imagine what a bun-fight that would be.  However, when passing on the new number it's helpful that people only need to remember the first four numbers and the tail end of the old number.
