Does anyone know who supplies Harvey Norman with their Vodafone handsets? I ordered a N73 from them Sunday before last, after they called the supplier to check they could get one in.

The supplier told the HN guy they were out of stock until the 14th, which the HN rep relayed to me and told me if I ordered one I should have it by the Friday just gone. I rang the next day (Monday 12th) and asked the product manager if he would mind calling the supplier and finding out when I could expect to see my handset (Just to check) and he said he would find out, but never called me back. He also assured me the order had been placed with the supplier.

I called again on Friday and got a big fob-off from the product manager saying they never give estimates of when a product will arrive. It's now Tuesday, over a week since the order was placed, and 6 days after the supplier was to get stock and I have still not heard anything.

Does anyone know how long these things usually take to arrive, i really want my new handset, especially as I am going overseas soon and my current handset is very limited. I feel pretty let down by HN, in my view if you order something from a big place like HN I would expect that as a matter of good customer service that they should try and get an ETA on something if it is going to take more than a few days to arrive.

Curious, I called HN Auckland today and enquired if they were able to tell me if they could source a N73 (As they dont stock them normally). They guy said he would find out and call me back, which he did (very promptly) and said they had them in their system, but werent able to order them!

Does this mean that my N73 is never going to arrive from HN?! I will call the product manager here again tomorrow if I have not heard anything but I am starting to get annoyed/concerned about my purchase.

I *think* Brightpoint supplies all Vodafone authorised dealers and retailers with their handsets. But in saying that I don’t think Brightpoint will deal directly with the public.

If VF got stock last wednesday, is it something they just then send to retailers or do have have to package, flash the phones etc? What I am asking I guess is am I being unrealistic in my view that it should take 6 days for the wholesaler to send it to the retailer after stock is received?

I called a couple of other HN outlets in Auck this afternoon and 2 had stock instore of the N73. I will ask HN here to try and get a handset transfered if it hasnt arrived by tomorrow. I have a feeling the PM wont want too just because he cant be bothered.

Adam, I have to admire your patience! If it'd been me ( a well-documented Grumpy Old B****r), I'd have told them to cancel the order, sent a snotty email to the "manager" of the branch, and taken my business elsewhere.

I have no time at all for non-performers. There are always alternative choices, and once they've been told that they're getting the order because HN or someone else stuffed up, they'll usually jump to help you!

Good luck, and I hope that handset arrives soon. (At this rate, it could be obsolete before you receive it!!)

George

I've got it now, I had to call them to know it had arrived, they never called me, then they stuffed up the paperwork when I went to pick it up which took ages.

I had paid for it when the order was placed and didnt want to have to go through the hassle of refunds etc. Its all said and done now, but in future HN will be my LAST choice of retailer for anything.
