Yeah get it checked at a Vodafone store.
Phone could be Network locked, or broken, refresh my memory what country is 3 in?

I would say vodafone store is not the correct place thanks

They did not sell them the handset its not there issue, It should be taken back to place of purchase or motorola service agent.

Generally countries that have multiple GSM networks will lock their handsets so only their Sim cards will work in them

I.E Nokia phone from Vodafone UK will only read Vodafone UK sim's until it has been unlocked.

You can generally get unlocking codes from the Networks customer support lines (sometimes websites), this will allow any sim to be read by the handset.

Johnr, even if the store was not the point of sale and it is an oversea's handset they are still able to organise a service agent to have a look, at a price and stores discretion of course

3 network handsets are usually SIM locked.

Contact 3 in the UK to get the unlock code, they're the only people who can help you. If you bought it off someone, ask for your money back if they can't sort it out for you.

Alternately, you can have it unlocked here. I think it's cheaper. Just ask for some unlockers in here. Good luck!
