There has been an update to the VFX system that effects the Number of Rings before Voicemail Answer or Call Forward no answer , this will effect all current settings.

Previously the Number of Rings set was double the Amount heard by the ringing party, this has now to be fixed so tha the number of Rings heard by either party now matches with the System Setting before Call Forward  or Divert to VoiceMail.

IE....If call Forward on No Answer is set to 4 Rings , the Phone will Ring 4 Times and the User will Hear 4 Rings (Prevoiusly Heard 8).

This does bring the service into line so all ringing and settings on VFX Match, it does however effect current settings so will require adjust by customers using this setting at present.

Since this has been put in place, we're having problems getting to the phone in time before voice mail kicks in. We've currently got this set to six rings (the maximum).

Is it possible to somehow set this higher?

Sorry where/how do I change the rings to answer I cannot see that option in the portal. 4 rings is far to few as default 6 would be borderling

In the portal under PHONE FEATURES -> MESSAGING -> GREETINGS.

As a feature request I too would be keen on more rings before greeting picks up if available. I previously had it set to 4 which gave 8 rings and this was good.

Cheers,

Matt.

I have mine set to 5 rings which to me is fine. When I used Telecom call minder I had it set at 5 or 6 rings as well.
I think if you let it ring too long then people may hang up before you answer and before voice mail kicks in.

I must comment that this does need to have more flexibility. longer would certainly be a lot better.

Just a tip for the title of your post, putting in "PLEASE READ" made me initially not bother as normally it's annoying newbies wanting attention!

can I use any ata adapter with VFX? or does it have to be your device? the reason is I have a few spare Grandstream's around and being able to "switch on" remotely when I'm down the line etc would be very handy! I'm also looking at a wm5 phone with a built in SIP client. called HIPI.

I'm trying to change the "Number of rings before greeting" and it doesn't allow me. The current settings is the 3 rings. If I choose 6 rings(radio button)(or any number) and press "Apply" button then the webpage is reloading and it is coming back with the 3 rings again. What I'm doing wrong?

Just checked this and all looks okay it changed no problem...just made the change for you to 6 rings in the mean time hope this is okay.

Try changing the settings to different rings and let us know if you have any issues as it all appears fine from here.

Thank you for changes, but I still have the problem. Now I change to a lower number. I did try FF and IE7, no differents. If you are interested in I found another issue. I did copy the url "http://vfx.xport.co.nz/User/VM/Greetings/" from FF and pasted to IE/Opera and I did go directly to the page without login procedure to my portal.

But I did change "Notify me by e-mail of the new voice message at this address" to another email.

Actually a bit off the current thread but relevant to the title. Now that we have ported our number to VFX the 6 rings is sufficient, particularly given caller ID. Another very handy feature is the call notify via email (which we have set up for every incoming call) which gives you the number of who called while you were on a call. Call waiting on the Telecom network was always a pain as you had no idea who was calling. Now we can ignore the call waiting if we choose, check the email and call back whoever was calling.

Cheers,

Matt.

I'll add my vote to requests for more rings before voice mail.  With our other phone company we've had longer ringing before voice mail and it worked very well.  Yes, people do think that there's nobody home and that's great because it means we rarely get messages from "HoHum Market Research" and the ones who want to know if we have a mortgage (don't know where they're from - never wait to hear!)  Friends and relations know that it goes to voice mail so they do leave messages.  No doubt different requirements on a business phone line, but I can't see why users shouldn't be given the choice - say extend the maximum from 6 up to 10?

6 rings is OK but I to would like the option for more rings say up to 10. If possible make the feature available as an option and its up to people weather they want to use it. but judging by this forum a number would
