Is there anyway to find out the exchange locations in NZ. When i was living in Perth i had a plugin for google earth that showed all the exchange locations in Perth. I was wondering if there is something similar for NZ particularly Stoke Nelson.

I am just wanting to know out of interest because i am getting very good internet speeds on xnets river plan. i sync at around 4.8mbit, speedtests usualy show around 3-4mbit speeds, and can download from ftp at 580KBps. so i am guessing i must be close to the exchange.

i have always got good speeds here even on dialup and the old 2mbit plan i was on with ihug a few years ago.

See http://www.telecom.co.nz/binarys/number%20range%20by%20lica%20and%20exchange.xls
and http://hwiki.digitalsouth.net.nz/broadband/exchange_locations

Unless your exchange is listed on the second link..then you will just have to drive around and look for a building with telecom/downer vans parked outside. Anything that looks like Mission control.

The exchange location is only relevant if you're ADSL is coming from an exchange. Over time growing numbers of Telecom customers will be feed from fibre cabinets rather than a phyiscal exchange building.
