Just read that you can now get Sommet Sports on TBox for Freeview.

Are the TBox for Sky and TBox for Freeview physically different and therefore it will work with one or the other (I guess TBox for Freeview has MHEG5 whilst perhaps the Sky one doesn't?), or is it politics which stops Sommet being on TBox for Sky?  (I seem to recall that TCL had to ask permission from Sky to be able to show new channels)

It's only available on T-Box with Freeview.

Same equipment. Different product.

Thanks - guess what I'm getting at, is if the hardware supports showing Sommet on the TBox (which it sounds like it does), why would Vodafone not partner with Sommet to show it through TBox with Sky?

I realise its a different product - do the two run different software and the Freeview version includes MHEG5 whilst the Sky version doesn't and therefore it wouldn't be possible at all?

Sommet removed the MHEG5 requirement. That's why you're seeing them appear now with EPG on non certified Freeview receivers with EPG.

It would require Sky to add Sommet to their platform before you will see it on T-Box with Sky.

I cannot see that happening anytime in the next millennia.

Ah I see...

I thought at one time Vodafone (well TCL) were able to do their own channels as well but I guess those days are well and truly gone :(

(Out of interest I'm assuming it would be technically possible given that I think that TV1/2/3 are all sourced directly from Freeview rather than via Sky - I think?)
