With the new WxC web site I've noticed plans have changed.  No more Fusion5, instead Fusion20 for only $10 more which has come along at the right time for me as our data cost is typically $10 and now we have a teenager old enough for Facebook.  So I've switched today.  I was told that a plan change now also means a 12 month contract with $50/month early termination fee.  Not an issue for me as I'm not hopping providers, but thought I'd mention it to fellow GeekZoners.  I knew something like that applied to new customers, but was told it now also applies to plan changes.

Also can't find the Windows tray icon data usage monitor on their web site any more.  Hope it means they are just busy updating it.

yeah noticed this too when trolling the new site earlier. Not needing to jump up yet as usage still just ticking by.

With the contract - it seems bizarre to impose that on existing customers just switching plans. I can understand it for new customers, but why existing ones....but I suppose like you said it is really only a concern for those who are jumping around.

never had much joy with the data usage monitor - it worked, but when trying to look at historical usage or the trending graphs, it never seemed to want to work for me....so usually just ignored it....BUT if it was smartened up I certainly see it as a useful tool for customers to assist in managing their account.

The WXC usage monitor can now be found in the Xport Portal https://www.xport.co.nz - log in to the portal and click on your broadband username, the usage monitor can be found down the bottom right hand corner.

The issue seen with the percentage bar not including free data has been resolved.  We are also looking to have the history show the usage information seen in the Xport portal - currently you need the Usage Monitor on 24/7 to record the history properly.

Thanks Cameronn for the usage monitor. It works as expected, except I get an error it can't write to it's ini file so it does not save my account info and settings.

Odd that changing plan would lock you into a new 12 month contract. Never experienced that before with other providers, and makes you wonder why they do that. New customers it is fair enough.

Hrrm that's a little strange I don't seem to be able to re-produce the error, changed a whole heap of settings, closed and re-opened without any issue.

What is the exact error message that you're receiving?  Might pay to try and re-install it in a new folder.

Two message, one is simply file access error happens when I force refresh.  Other one when I click OK on the options window it says can't write to C:\Program Files (x86)\WXC Usage Monitor\WXCUsage.ini and then says file access denied.  Actually the file does not exist.  I'm running Win7 Home 64 bit and installed without uninstalling the old one.  The installer did the uninstall.

I have re-installed, still the same.  So then I exit it and run it as administrator and no error saving options and it remembers my credentials because the ini file now exists.  The only error remaining is if I don't run it as administrator then I can't save option changes.

So the issue is with access rights for writing to (or creating) the ini file.  My login is setup as an administrator, but also set to require confirmation when significant system changes are made.
