Apparently today?

"Expectations are high that Vodafone will launch its first consumer ultrafast broadband plans today"

http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/vodafone-launches-business-ufb-plans-ck-146586

not a whole lot of details in there. sounds pretty weak form the article. Basically just Sky delivered over UFB.

I don't get how this is much different from getting sky over Satellite, other than lack of rain fade problems.

I am still waiting for VDSL unfortunately I live 2 house out of the currently available UFB zone. And my street won't be getting it due to the network maps. But I do live 10m from the cabinet. (I live on jutland road)

Are they still doing the double your data thing? I am surprised there is still no plan >250GB if not.

What I find really interesting is the talk about using ufb to stream freeview & sky via a new, improved tbox. From the details on National Business review site, they will use multicast to stream the data. Sky & freeview will be available, and, a somewhat big thing, there is a suggestion that SD channels will not be as compressed as on Satellite.

VF got rid of double your data on the latest broadband offerings and just charge on excess data.

It's a regulated product, everyone buys the product pretty much at the same price as I understand it.

Yes aware of that, was hoping Vodafone might do something slightly different.

Anyone know if VF are using a VOIP based service over fibre for their phone line provision, or will they to do it over copper like Telecom?

VoIP. They've already been offering VoIP services for some time.

Does this apply to the people on TelstraClear InHome fibre (in chch for example), or is it limited to only people with actual UFB.
