Hi,

I'm hoping someone from Vodafone NZ will be able to respond to this :)

Vodafone is deploying 4G step by step around the world, most European countries already have pockets of 4G reception within their territory but one thing that is especially frustrating in a fragmented market such as Europe as that the roaming agreements for 4G connectivity are still not signed!

The first agreement was made only a month and a half ago, notably by Vodafone Romania (!!), where its customers can now use 4G data when travelling in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece, and vice versa. Some of the bigger telecom markets like Vodafone DE (Germany), NL (Netherlands) and obviously UK have still not signed any sort of 4G roaming agreement. So with my £42 a month Vodafone red subscription I'm only able to use 4G in Greater London and not when I travel to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin or Milan..

Questions:
- What is the status of 4G roaming in between Vodafone AU & Vodafone NZ?
- And is there anybody at Vodafone NZ that has some form of insight as to how quickly roaming agreements will be established between the different Vodafone companies around the world?

Haere taka mua, taka muri; kaua e wha.

There is no roaming to Aussie, and as you've pointed out the first LTE roaming agreements have only just been signed and rolled out.

LTE roaming is completely different to GDM/3G roaming. Based on what I've read and a discussion about this issue a few weeks ago I realistically I think we're still probably at least 18 months to 2 years away from substantial LTE roaming footprints from any networks.
