What routers have you tried?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS and have no issues at all with it.
Took less than 3 mins to set up

Why would TelstraClear support a router they havent sold? :)

Did you follow the instructions for the WRT54GS?   Theres no issues with that model.

There isn't really anything for them to give you other than the information you already have - IP, subnet and gateway. Anything else is not covered by their support.

I believe the WRT54GS's have now been discontinued (they were just a 54G with SpeedBooster).

Personally I'd recommend a Linksys WRT54GL. It's the best router you can get in terms of value for money as it can be upgraded with many different 3rd party firmware versions that will enhance it and offer you features you'd normally pay a lot more for.

Looking at Ascent it appears that Ingram are out of stock of quite a few Linksys products at present and stock is due in on the 9th June. Unless you can find a supplier who carries stock you'll probably be out of luck until then.

In recent weeks I have had dealings with the Belkin F5D7230AU, the Cameo WL-2206, and the Linksys WRT54GL. All seemed to work as advertised. Out of all of them I liked the Cameo but for no good reason over the others. The WRT54GL does offer 3rd party upgrade options, but the firmware that comes withit seems to work just fine out of the box.

The first two can be had for around $90, the Linksys for $155. Ascent have all three althought the Linksys seems in short supply at the moment. Can well recommend Ascent as a supplier.

Oh and all the above are wireless routers, non wifi ones such as the TP-Link R460 can be purchased for less ($55) and also seem to work just fine.
