Hi all,

I've read another couple of posts on here but I haven't found my answer. What ports does Vodafone block on ADSL? So far I have discovered port 8080 to be blocked (or unusable).

Why do you think it's blocked?

What router are you using? Perhaps the router itself uses that port for admin or other functions?

I didn't read it anywhere - after much frustration I couldn't get anything on port 8080 so I tried a different port and had no issues.

And no, it's not the router - I'm a network administrator. I'm wondering if it may be something fishy up with our connection coming in? As it happens, since I've posted this I've changed the whole network config at this end so I'll do some isolating and see if it was a computer/device here.

So in answer to my question, what ports are blocked (if any)?

Vodafone dont block any ports.
Just opened 8080 on my router and 100% OK.

Thanks very much for the quick feedback. It must be someone's computer here screwing things up (I have an idea someone has a virus or two which could be causing issues as well as maxing our data cap so I'm going to start clamping down on that).

Make sure you have something actually listening for the query otherwise it wont show open..

Haha doubtful! I keep getting the blame for using up all of our data but I haven't even had a computer for over a month now! Aside from occasionally browsing on my work laptop a couple of times a week... Still waiting for my new PC to come in :)

Have you scanned the PCs with malwarebytes and checked the WiFi security?

Oh and have you ever sold / given away a modem provided by Vodafone?
