Hi,

I would have replied in the APN thread, but it seems to be locked.

I am using the  www.vodafone.net.nz APN settings on my RIM device and am building a J2ME app that needs to talk with one of our servers. Works fine via the IP, but not via the DNS - any ideas/help/adivce?

Interesting... I thought all BlackBerry devices should use the same APN as mandated by VFNZ?

yes i believe they do.

Just to clarify. I have the stnd VFNZ APN.

If I connect to our server via its IP address I can do all the things I need to do, but if I try and connect to the server via its domain name the app just sits there, unable to find the server.

We built a simple test app and it seems to be that the device cant find domain names, but it can find IP's.

So I am wondering if there is any DNS settings or different APNs I may need to use to get this working using DNS requests.
