Wondering if anybody out there has dealt with both of these phones and could shed some light for me.
I'm looking at taking advantage of the latest vbox offer, and im tossing up between the SE w850 and the nokia 6288.

Ive currently got a 6234 (my previous phone was a W800).
I liked both of these phones, the w800 had great music software and the 6234 has a great display, both have the really nice touch of theme altering.
Has anybody owned/played with/used either or both of these 2 phones? CAn they reccommend the key differences? I'm not a brand loyal guy, so I'm kinda stuck as to who will be my new toy.

The W850 I know has the good music software (the ability to vreate playlists etc).
Are the displays that much differnet between the 850 and the 6288? my 6234 display is awesomely bright, would i be losing out by going to one of these 2 models?

Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, firsthand accounts from anyone who has used both and can make direct comparisons would be fantastic. Ive tried google but theres very little for direct comparisons.

Cheers guys.

I've used both and would personally go for the W850.

Smaller
Nicer slide action
Camera images are sharper
Better battery life

Do be aware that you will have to get used to the SonyEricsson text messaging, input is slightly differed from Nokia.

I do like the active screen on the 6288 though, very handy. You also have more email options with the W850.

I worked in store called Phones4U in the UK last year and dealt with both of those phones. I prefer SE's over Nokia any day! The w850 is brilliant, i had a w800 and would love to use it over here on Voda, but its more economical to use Telecom because of the $10 txt. The w850 is a brilliant and sturdy slider version of the w800. While I was ALWAYS inundated with people bringing back 6288's because they kept breaking. The slider was notoriusly bad and the screen would constantly crack and break. It also feels very creaky and feels like it's a cheap phone you buy kids from the warehouse that makes sounds. So go for the SE!

well
i bit the bullet this morning and grabbed the 850i. Bloody hard to find in palmy as most of the stores had sold out and no shipment was coming in till later this week apparently.
first impressions are im very impressed, aside from the keypad being a bit cheap feeling its pretty good.
My other major complaint is the software shipped with the phone. Once installed it hogs the PC's resources and my machine was constantly freezing and/or crashing. After uninstalling the awful Sony Ericsson software I'm just using the phone as a USB drive to transfer the files across and it works a charm.
Cheers for the advice guys, much appreciated.

I've used W850i and 6288

I prefer the Nokia 6288

The W850i navigational buttons at the top just underneath the screen are hard to press.
I hate how you have to slide up the phone and the buttons are quite uneasy to press.

I don't like the interface and the layout of Sony Ericsson Menus.

Even assigning midi files as well Message tones. It was very hard to navigate thru the menu of Sony Ericsson operating system.

With Nokia I put the midi file in.Go to profiles and assign the sound as message tone. For Sony Ericsson you have to go thru alot of steps.I just don't like Sony Ericsson especially W850i.The navigational keys were so hard to press. My thumb was pretty sore after 1 minute

Nokia 6288 Symbian is much better and offer more program support.
